Applied Skins and Melting

If a skin is applied to a ship, melted, then bought back, is the skin gone forever? Specifically the Caterpillar pirate skin.

Yes, all upgrades applied are gone for good once melted

Yes, the CATERPILLAR PIRATE EDITION isn't a skin, it is a special edition ship, a CCU, so like stated in the buyback section:

This pledge will contain the ship(s) and item(s) that are listed in the store, and will not include applied ship upgrades.

Is this the case with skins? skins aren't re-usable? Has anyone verified that by trying with the aurora skins? Assuming ofc they can be applied now?

I have melted stand-alone add-on skins (the shut up and take my money skin) and it is in my buy-back. Skins attached to ship pledges are different.
