I think its about time to get this shit done.

My current PC can't really stream and run the games Im trying to play at the same time. I was getting terrible frame rates on GTAV and Star Citizen, and I want to start streaming regularly, so its time to get this PC built.

RussianJ just got his hands on a GTX 970 which he is selling me at a good price, so I am starting off with that.

I got a AX860i PSU from another member, thank you very much!

Now I just need everything else!

Im eyeing out the following:

CPU - i5-4690K
Motherboard - MSI Z97-G45
Memory - 16GB of something
Storage - SSD 500GB of something
Video Card - GTX 970
Case - I have no idea, gimme your suggestions! (chairmanmeow suggests this)

Microcenter has bundle sales every so often, if you see a i5 and mobo bundle, let me know! They are usually in-store only and I have no store within 1000miles.

That's a good looking build. Will definitely get you up and running. Get a cheap case to keep cost down. Corsair Spec-03?

I can't really call myself an expert, but I would recommend a Cooler Master HAF 912 case. It's inexpensive, been reliable for me for the past year and a half, no complaints so far.

I'm a fan of Corsair products, I'm currently using a Obsidian 750D. Looks classy af, is pretty dang quiet, and the internals are easy to work with and very hand-friendly. My last case fucking drew blood every time I needed to swap parts.

For streaming, you'll want a quiet PC case with sound deadening material in it to cut down on audible noise. Getting a flashy case with metal mesh vents and fans and stuff all over it will make it that much noisier and more noticeable while streaming.

I use Antec P280s for both my gaming and streaming PCs. Not fancy at all, but very quiet and sturdy. You can also check out the slightly larger version, the P380, if you need more room internally.

Antec P280: http://www.antec.com/product.php?id=704504&fid=6 (Also comes in white, strangely.)

Montoya: If we can help chip in via donations to get you in game, let us know how. :)
Much appreciated Captain.

Anything donated here, just mark it as "for Montoyas PC" or this weekend when Im streaming I can run a donation drive and expose my nipples for every dollar.

I've got a 970 at the moment, it's a really good card. I can't really comment on much of the rest, but 16 gigs of ram and a 500 MB ssd should be plenty.
Ive seen the numbers, at 1080p it runs everything perfectly, so I think it should be good for another 2-3yrs at least!

CM HAF X is a very neat case if you want eATX support.
I can also vote for ASUS Maximus motherboards. I run Maximus V Extreme + i5-4570k @ 4.6 ghz and i do not plan to change it for next 2 years.

And if you're going with overclocking (i assume yes since you go with K cpu), you will need decent CPU fan. I can vote for zalman cnps12x (it's huge, btw, might block your memory slots and even one of PCIe. noctua nh-d14 is also a decent choice.

@Montoya here's another case suggesting. Russian recently suggested this one for me: http://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Enthoo-Tower-Chassis-PH-ES614L_BK/dp/B00LW3X1GO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437686569&sr=8-1&keywords=phanteks+luxe&pebp=1437686572407&perid=1XMDBV294D7T1BM696ZT

I like it a lot so far and its pretty quiet for air only and allows for easy water cooling and cable routing. The only issue I've had so far is front and and back mic plugins are causing a random static noise when I talk in mumble. This could just be user error when I installed causing a ground issue somewhere or something wrong with my motherboard. I was going to go away from windowed cases but this one is tinted and has the lights on the outside that can cycle from off to various colors with the option to plug in matching lights on the inside later. I also like the cases Captain shared and have had friends use them for years.

Ive never overclocked anything before, never had the need.

Should I be overclocking if I want to be cool?
