A buddy of mine recently learned how to throw knives, found that the expensive high quality butter knives his wife recently purchased were weighted perfectly and have appropriate stiffness for throwing. So he posted videos of him throwing them into a large log, driving deeply into it and mentioned he's adding them to his home defense plan...
...unfortunately, they seem to have worked counter to his defense against wife plan as I haven't seen him post anything for a while.
I think the wife didn't buy those knives to butter bread. 🤔

With that said, you guys have succeeded in derailing a nice discussion about guns into partisan bullshit which means I will now need to lock it down, good work.
Now lets get back to talking about guns and not the ethics behind them.
I'm all for that. For me, my preference at home is a Baby Desert Eagle II steel frame .45. I love how it shoots. Between the weight and the low barrel, it kicks less than many 9mms I have shot. When it comes to around the house, I will always prefer a pistol. I don't live in a mansion, so the hallways are not friendly to a rifle. It would be too cramped.

That said, there is definitely something to be said for the sound a rickety old pump action remington 870 when you slam a shell into the chamber. That'll pucker up some buttholes...

All in all, when given the option, the shots I prefer to direct at people are those of the alcoholic variety towards my friends while we simply enjoy life together however possible. How's this for a political statement @Montoya ? If the opportunity ever occurs in person, I'd be happy to give you shot. Just please nothing too top shelf as most of my limited spare funds tend to end up being spent on SC ship jpegs to help the games development. Either way, cheers!

After talking with @sum1 and then sitting on it for a while I went ahead and purchased one of these.

Not sure it would work as well for home defense given the 308 is not as easily stopped.
Depends on how close your neighbors are? Though, if your neighbors are wild animals it is a great choice! (I love 308)
With an adjustable gas block you might be able to go with lower powered defense rounds to reduce risk of penetrations outside your home.

The Remington 870 is a decent-quality, no-frills 12ga that will serve you well in home defense. The comfortable thing in my hand, though, is a 1911 in .45 ACP. Accurate. Reliable. Proven.

Fear the government that fears your guns. Governments should fear the people, the people should not fear the government.

I wonder if a KSG may be too much for a new gun owner to use. When under stress, fighting for your life, they may not have enough cognition to operate it or maybe even take the safety off.
Then again, if they train with it, a shotgun is a great deterrent to bad guys.
I would give my vote to the minigun if it weren't for the rediculous cost of ammo. lol

I would go even further and say no matter what weapon one has without training its almost useless. People who are proficient at the gun range find themselves unable to hit targets within 10 feet in a shoot house due to the stress.

very true, everyone should take classes in situational awareness and tactical shooting. along with regular defense shooting classes

Very nice!
Its beautiful! I hope you are not left handed :P
I got one because I am left-handed, the ejection system can be flipped sides in under 30 seconds with 0 tools, and the way the ejection works is it doesn't shot out but mainly forward, meaning you can shoot it off-handed with very low risk of getting brass on you.
