I'm a newbie with melt and buyback and I stressed my wallet allot lately, so I was wondering, what is best practice to keep a few Dragonflies in reserve?
I have a Connie Aquila and I am still a little nervous about getting it fully manned, but when I get it fully manned, I want to offer the crew a proper ride, so a Merlin and multiple Dragonflies would be nice.

I am playing SC for 3 months now and I'm fully focused on combat flight system, not allot time to investigate the other aspects of the game, so a crash course for dummies would be very welcome.

Well id imagine they will run the consept DF sale for a week like the buck. You could always buy 1, melt it 24 hours later, buy one again with the same money, melt 24 hours later, buy again and so on for the sale duration. Then youll have a pile of DF in buyback without spending much money initually. This will give you the oportunity to decide what you want to do and more information later will be available of how many DF will fit in which ships. Obviously though when SC has its full release they will lock down buying ships to whatever you currently own. Will totally murder the grey market just before this happens, would imagine you could get ships very cheap.

based on the images, I think one may be the only DF that can fit in a Connie's hold. your plan sounds solid as Caravan escort offering a little surprise, or as a commerce raider for the same reason.
The Aquila comes with an Ursa Rover. If space will be an issue, then I think it will be Ursa or Dragonfly o_O

I will get one for my Freelancer DUR. It will be great for exploring planetside.

I would wait until we have more info on want exactly is being offered.
I also own a Freelancer, planning to upgrade it to a MIS :)rolleyes: yeah I know, always fighting). A Dragonfly as special surprise (or escape pod) in the Freelancer will be fun :D

This morning I noticed that the Andromeda has one manned turret and allot missiles then the Aquila ... maybe I'm unnoticed moving to a more peaceful career in the verse ??
It was cheap, LTI $220 instead of 6MI $275 or 6MI €302.80 from RSI

That sounds like a plan :)

Thats a big problem of the Aquila. But you have to keep in mind that you can customize her lateron in the game, reinstall turrets instead of scanners etc. plus use the working bench (which I highly recommend to buy as long as it is such cheap for Chris Roberts mentioned that it will be a very central, very usful tool lateron for tuning your space vessels!).

Ow boy, so much info , you all stay awake while watching the RSI bulletins and news. I unfortunately instantly fall asleep  when not active doing something but just listen and watch  I guess the weeks of nightly fighting take their toll

I bought too many Sam. I melted an extra khartu-al and loaded up, if only to have LTI tokens for later. Now here's my issue:
I have the Combo, so Cat and 2 x DFs.
I also have an additional 1 x standalone DF.
I also have $75 Store credit left.
What the hell do I do with 75 store credit and 3 DFs?
One DF becomes a Cutlass. That's already bought.

Still have 2 DFs left, and 75 bucks.
What damn ship do I want?
I'm so confused.
Help me TEST, you're my only hope . . .

You know, (I may have to check this, as it might be a particular version only ) but for $24 you can upgrade your constellation to a Caterpillar.. then you will have ample room for many Dragonflies.

Edit: Sorry.. looks like its the Andromeda, not the Aquila :(

Yeap, but there would be another route to get a Caterpillar:
- melt the Aquila for $275, it is upgraded from a RSI Aurora
- buyback the Aurora LTI
- upgrade the Aurora LTI to a Caterpillar LTI
If tax doesn't hit in to hard, I would have a Caterpillar for $220. With the taxes I can buy a new Caterpillar with 6MI for $296.45

Only problem is, what will I do in game. My main focus is combat pilot. I need a money making ship so in the end I came to the conclusion that I would need a Constellation Taurus or a Freelancer MAX. I stumbled over a Constellation Aquila LTI for $220....... choice was made very quickly. 2 days later I stumbled over a MISC Freelancer, also a good ship with combat capabilities.
Now I see the Caterpillar, what can I do with the Cat??? My wallet is stretched beyond its limits

@marcsand2, the only money making youll be doing from a Cat would be hauling buddy, dont know if thats your pase as you seem to like more action with dogfighting. But you can change it up as said above as its very modular. If your after a money ship, what type of activity appeals to you? As I have said, your always welcome to crew or borrow ships if you want to make some money or have some variety. Maybe the Cat package with the x2 DF all in LTI is up your alley but you will need to get modules later to better fit your needs.

BTW....The tax you have to pay ontop blows with a purchase. Thankfully our government isnt smart enough to do that yet. My problem is the crappy exchange rate to the US dollar.

I really don't know, that is why I initially choose the Taurus, maybe upgrade it to an Andromeda (for the P52) or a Freelancer for some trading and if necessary have some guns and missiles to shoot back.
But then came the: what the heck, for that price I also can buy an Aquila with P52 and a Rover, so now I can do some trading, shooting back and exploration. My only worry is getting the seats filled.
That's why I got a second: what the heck, for that price I also can buy the Freelancer with an opt to make it a MIS. That way I can do some trade, shooting back, exploration and if the going gets tough throw allot of missiles in :D

You have abit of time to make tour mind up so have a think about it. NPCs will be available to help fill the seats when TESTies are in short supply. Your not alone, we all have this issue with 4+ people ships, my problem is I have alot of these ships.
