Eh, I don't know.. I think some consideration should be given about a Bengal painting a huge target on our backs. I'd personally LOVE to see one flown into the sun if possessing one would lead to a perpetual pack of hyenas nipping at our heels, LOL Maybe that could be our shtick! (well... ONE of them, at least) :)

The Bengal Carrier Super Solar Suicide Extravaganza!!! BCSSSE: "Bicksie" for short. TEST Squadron presents BCSSSE: we put the "SSS" in KA-BOOM!!! ***Insert Copyright Infringment Creeper here, giving thumbs up to endorse the event*** (do Creepers even HAVE thumbs?) "Coming to a system near you! Get'cher tickets, NOW! (NOW, Now, now, (now) *echo*)"

Think of the publicity! Get people's attention: make a big event out of capturing cap ships, and lobbing them at stars, "Happy birthday TO THE SUN!!!" Publicity leads to growing the org. A big org is a good thing, right?

If possible, we could still we take out everything except some stock engines; maybe we'd still make enough to buy many smaller, more agile cap ships. If anything, TEST is "strength in numbers" ...and beer. Lots of beer.

The bengal isn't just a ship, its a mobile fortress base. It allows a org to move, with ease, to battles or out of conflict areas. Otherwise you are stuck with planet/station hangars that attacking orgs can blockade. I don't expect to ever see a bengal in combat, I expect it to sit away and perform station duties. Unless it is a last ditch effort to turn the tides of battle. People need to think the bengal is a mobile station than a ship, something test really does need in order to maintain the swarm and hive mind attack patterns. You can dock all your ships in one ship and attack as a focused group. The other option is be stationed everywhere and have to rally together and be picked off as you do so, and then attack which takes more time and is more dangerous allowing an enemy to prepare a defense.

they had the same idea behind Mother ships and titans in eve... now look at the state of those 2 ships. lol if you don't have 30 of them in one fight you don't have enough and you lose.

But that is eve where the 30 ships are piloted by 30 people. In this game those 30 bengals will be piloted by at least 300 people (considering the Idris is 10 and Javalin is 8 one would make a guess at around 10 people to fly the ship itself, excluding the fleet of ships) witch is outrageous. If we have fleets of 300 players id say we would either bring 300 1man fighters 150 2 man fighters or a mix of 1 man and 2 man fighters with 10is or so multi-crew ships (id say conies or similar). If we field capital ships id say they would run in pairs (to start with anyways) supported by smaller ships. likely the 1 and 2 man fighters will all land on the 2 Bengal carriers and they would be taken to the fight. Only launching from the carrier once in system. Otherwise the 2 carriers would be supported by other multi-crew ships like the conies or freelancers, ect. But if I was FC I would have 2 Bengal, 2 Idris, and at least 1 Javalin roaming around together supported by conies/freelancer/cutlass/ect. That would give your total fleet size of 300+ enough support to have our capitals but enough capitals to deal with other capitals that might show up. 2 Carriers alone cant defend themselves against frigates and destroyers so that is why they would be with them. but the capitals would never engage in the fight unless capitals show up for enemy team. Otherwise we get in the system, launch the fleet of 1-2 man fighters and the smaller multi-crew ships lead the fleet into the fight. then the capitals stay away from the fight and relatively safe ready to jump into the fight if enemy capitals show up.

But that is all theory crafting. Assuming we can field the 300 man fleets and assuming that capital fights happen that way. But either way the carriers will be pivotal in taking our fleets places allowing our fighters to not have to rely on fitting a jump drive because they have a ship to take them to the fight.

EvE capital ships are seriously underpowered, there was a time where a single motherboard in system would mean everyone retreat and wait for it to leave. This was back before everyone could own a carrier and every org had 2-3 motherships. EvE needs a reset button its grown to big and orgs to powerful to have the original scope in view. Its no longer this sci fi grimdark 4 way war future that they marketed. Now days I see carriers ratting like they are battleships of old. Where a single pilot can take out a system of rats, used to take a group of players.

Anyways I dont expect carriers to ever run solo. They need fleet escort just like today, cruisers, frigs, destroyers, scout subs everything just supporting a single ship and mission. Carriers should never be on the frontline, and should always be sitting away safe and sound with its escorts. The biggest ship we should ever field is a battleship as anti-capital. Break a few destroyers and cruisers at the end of a battle. Im sad to say but a crewing a carrier is not honor and blood, its support and safety.

All this may depend on how rare these ships are, if we only end having like 5 bengals total to be found then it will still be massive powerful ship to be reckoned with, the problem with EVE is now every man and his dog has full size capital ships. In SC everything above a destroyer wont be owned, you will have to find it or capture it, which i think will keep fleet sizes down (relatively)

Something thats also on my mind is the instancing system, as has been stated a javelin is 30 people and an idris is 10, a bengal is three times the size of a javelin so lets say it takes a hundered people to crew it, if you had one bengal, 2 javelins and 3 idris' (abritrary numbers) thats damn near 200 people already, and may well not include the pilots for the fighters on the carrier, and bam! the instance is full... so how can you have massive fleet battles?

My point was that its so accessible. If you don't bring a lot of them you don't have enough and your team loses. I hope they keep it where 1-4 capital ships = omg better bring our 1-4 capital ships or just not fight at all. Make them something to be feared, not countered with 10 times the number of same ship.

I am now imagining the glory of one of those drifting through deep space packed, that no one would dare cross.

While a Bengal is nice and all it is not the only prize to be had and tbh it is a large target not fit for occupation because it requires a very large garrison to keep ready in case of attack. This is only one reason of why the first Bengal we find or take is going into the sun. Slightly smaller ships such as a Pegasus Escort Carrier(you can find pics of it) will serve us almost as well.

Noone can man it properly. The reason to have it is to find it before others do. There is a limited number of them, and i would rather take her while she s offline than to fight to take it.

I just assumed if someone found one (and wanted to share it with test) it would just be like our first space station/out post that we can relocate anytime we like.

Like black sunder said, everyone is going to try stealing it so it would be much easier to park it somewhere they can't get to it. Like the sun. The crew capacity is more than 10% the size of the org, so there's no way we'd be able to keep it manned 24/7.

I think people are forgetting that, those 700 slots for players is bed spots too. So if your docked on a bengal and logoff on the bengal bed spot bed bevause your in a carrier based ship (ie fighters) that you cant sleep on or docked up there with a multi crew ship. You are taking up a slot on that ship. Lets say we have 10 shifts of peopke each on ~2-3 hour bases, that means only 70 people are online manning that ship. Everyone else will be in bunk and standing by.

There is no way you can maintain a fully loaded bengal 24/7. You would need 7000 players playing everyday and have to get off board the ship and find somewhere new to dock and rest. They said that manning a bengal would be realistic with shifts and rest cycles. If a 6000 member squadron cant man a single carrier then we need an alliance. It was also discusses that of those 700 charactera that some might be NPCs fulfilling immersion roles that have no human role like a chef or custodians.

So, if we get one, then we park it, cause if any of the larger orgs find out we have one, they will try to take it. Granted, a lot of this is just theory, but it would be nice to have a giant Black and Yellow tiger striped behemoth to the orgs name.
