Hmm actually afaik the MOAB was never really be used.
The only recorded drop was during the hot situation when Iraq was treathening to invade Egypt (if I'm not wrong): the drop it in a ttest field conventionally situated on the Egypt border with Iraq. A few days leater Iraq retrive the troop that wae assembling near the border...

The MOAB is not in fact a hight explosive bomb, is a ari-sol one: it work by praying hight falmable/explosive liquid/gas (sorry don't know THAT much of the specifcs) in the air and then detonate it with a much much bigger boom do to the air expansion.
Basically it use the same principle of the atomic bomb or of the "area bombing" tecnique, just in a "compact" version and without that nasty radiation-thing to mess with.
Actually the one time it was used was just after it replaced an earilier air-fuel bomb, In 2017, Trump dropped one in Afghanistan to evaporate a poppy field and say to the Taliban, "here's what we can do." There's a flash and everything within a 1,000 yard radius is vaporized. Mushroom cloud. Biggest boom from a non-nuke ever. They drop it from a cargo plane not because it weighs so much, but because the dimensions are so large it doesn't fit inside the B1 or B2.

The real impact on the enemy is fear, which it delivers in boatloads.

Yes! That's the one. Not Iraq, Afghanistan.
There is a video.

We know we're due for a pair of large explorer ships built from medium components (my favorite), meaning something larger than a Vanguard but oufited nearly identically. Stuff close to the Connie and MSR in size. So the Origin 400i is a luxury explorer for a team of 3 and the Drake Corsair is I think intended for a team of 4, but with accommodations for more (like the old Corsair pirating ships. Note in the deckplan she has 4 stations, 5 beds and room for six at the table.). I'd expect the 400i to have much less cargo space than the Corsair and the Corsair has less than the Conny and MSR, so they're not good transports. They're really intended as explorers, but might make good drug runners, high duration stealth recon military scouts and even stealthy ingress platforms for small squad landings. If you want to attack pirate outposts and slaver bases, these might make good choices.

We'll have to wait and see. This is my favorite class of ship. Just needs an extra cooler. . .View attachment 21300

It's also possible we'll see the Vulcan medium repair/refuel and the Vulture light Salvage. Isn't salvage due (again) this coming patch?
My gut tells me that the Drake Corsair & the Origin 400i will potentially be polar opposites in that where the Corsair will clearly focus on firepower, the 400i might focus on defense & survivability (possibly a small med bay & definitely better shields) .

My hunch is that we'll see:

-- Origin 400i - Fills a hole in the Origin lineup.
-- Small Salvage Ship - To further build out the entry-level mechanic more during the October sale.
-- MSR Smuggler's Stealth Variant - Hottest thing since pancakes (i.e., low-cost (to CIG) crowdfunding booster)
-- Anvil Capital Ship - To refresh the aging 'big ship buzz'.

For a bonus surprise ship:

- Alien Bomber - The Vanduul Void or Xian Volper - An largely unscratched ship sales niche.

I'd support most of these, but the small salvage ship role has already been filled with the Vulture which is now scheduled for next year along with the salvage mechanics for it.

I guess I see the Vulture as still relatively sizable, although indeed it is a one-crew ship. I was thinking of something smaller than that, designed for high-value specialty-component salvage, something that could fly into the heart of a capital ship wreck for precise (though not large) salvage. I guess a Dragonfly could fit that niche, but I see it more as a motorbike.

Or a customized Titan suit?

I don't think they should do pirate variants, or even green variants. All they need to do that is a skin. The MSR for example has a great black skin with yellow highlights. I would rather my ship looked like a stock ship, but was filled with crew who don't mind the odd adventure. CIG would do a variant anyway, not like they haven't done it in the past.

The 400i, yeah they need an Origin ship in the expected size range, but so far I haven't seen much to make me fan of Origin, except luxury which isn't high on my priority list even in real life.

I would love a refinery ship but like the Vulture the mechanics to do that might be good for patch 3.19.1 or 3.23.2 (am I getting cynical or what?)

Otherwise I'm kind of at a loss.

Or a customized Titan suit?
Now that would be interesting!

Hmm speculatig are we?
Well CIG already teased some immage of a Origin-style movement truster, so I second the 400i option: a competitor to the freelancer and the MSR could be interesting.
The refinery ship is basically a confirmed incoming ship since they have already done every other ship they propose at CitizenCon 2019 and we already see some white box conbcept of it.

A small all-round/starter Crusader ship will be interesting: crusader now have 3 ship all either uber specialized (Ares) or on the large-very large scale. Considering the appreciation Crusader style seams to have on tthe player base a small ship as a competitor of the Nomads and the Avenger sound like a good move to me.

For te forth Income I put my finger on a RSI ship:the Taurus renew the intereset on the manufacturer and RSI lack a medium size cargo ship... well outide the questionable Aurora (not really a reference for cargo activity) they actually have only 1 class of cargo ship: the constellation variant... something in beteween could be nice.
Not only but due to the big difference in style from the Constellation to the Mantis (the second it looks far more modern in desgin) a new ship to consolidate the style guide in anticipation for the next Constellation series rework could be a nice move.

About the salvage the Volture is suppose to be Prospector equivalent, so I dobut we'll se a smaller slavage ship, very likely a salvage rover, something like the ROC is for mining.

BTW does anybody have info on what the RSI Lynx is suppose to be? Never heard of it before...

I'll still through this out there with hopes that it lands in the dreams of CR by magic ... even though the 600i can carry up to an Ursa rover style ground vehicle & the 890J can carry a pair of them below as well as a pair of 85x small runabout ships, I'd love to see a dedicated ship carrier by Origin similar to the Drake Kraken, but with the safety & comfort of those transporting the ships being hauled in mind. So instead of the drake aesthetic internally, it would have more relaxing feel to it. Yes, I know that would most likely concept at the $2K range thanks to the "luxury tax", but the price would help keep it special.

I like the 300 series just becaise they make excellent use of space. If the 400 did the same but added room for 2 more crew, a couple X1 Force bikes and some real stealth, I might be pursueded from the Sentinel. I like the pilot has 2 S4 guns and two turrets rather than one would be nice. We need a ship with a third cooler though.

Can't say I like the bow. Maybe there's a reason for it, but I can't see it. OTOH, the Corsair design makes great sense.

That would be the already announced Vulcan, unless you were thinking of one smaller than that.
Yep, the Vulcan is an allrounder and doesn't look to have the defecated fuel capacity to be able to do more than a splash and dash for larger ships.

A Vulcan may be able to give a ship enoughy fuel to fly to the nearest base, but if a dustem doesnt have a nearby base it's going to be a bit sketchey.

See highlights. Interesting way of looking at it.

I ended up with two Saber models, one of which I intend to upgrade to the Vulcan. It should have a Yellow (and gray... nobody is perfect) livery too.
I don't think it was meant to fully refuel a large capital ship, but maybe a flight of fighters, or a medium sized ship. But it might have enough fuel capacity to get a ship like that to a station where it can refuel, or maybe more than 1 Vulcan or more than 1 trip?
