I have 2.1 million credit and I want to blow them on a new ship.
Up to now I have been flying an Avenger Titan Renegade, good entry-level all rounder vessel but I want something packing more punch.
Knowing that I play solo most of the time and I'm not too keen on mining or trading, what would you recommend among the Vanguard Harbinger, Vanguard Warden, Sabre, and the Hurricane?
Also, why does the Vanguard cost so much more than the Harbinger?

Based on your profile, I'd recommend you to buy Warden straight away. It's a fast heavy fighter platform with two beds and some storage space. And by fast I don't only mean max SCM speed -- it has a very fast QD, which can be used for quick jumps around the Verse.

I love mine and I use it as my primary ship. It's a good PVP and PVE fighter, especially with the fixed Size 5 laser repeater or cannon under nose -- this needs a lot of practice though; you have to learn how to use fixed guns, and practice heavy fighter jousting tactics. The best gun nose in my opinion is long range CF-557 Galdereen Repeater. I usually use Size 3 missiles only, and Size 3 laser repeaters on the turret. This energy-only loadout with infinite ammo allows me to stay in space as long as I have enough hydrogen to reach the nearest space station or Rest Stop.

You can use Warden for the box delivery missions and for long distance travelling. Beds allow 2-person crew to logout anywhere you want.

The price difference between Harbinger and Warden would be probably corrected at some point, as there isn't any significant advantage of Warden.

PvE? I have a Warden, and a Sabre, and a Hurricane... but the Avenger does the job pretty good..

Excellent advice from the above responses, I'd just add now we can rent ships in game it might be worth spending a few credits to Fly Before You Buy so you can get a feel for which ship is going to serve you best, if you can find them for rent anywhere?

I recommend the Sentinel. It probably costs more because of the stealth gear and EMP. If you want to explore the game's stealth dynamic, you can't have a better ship. In the future you'll be able to swap out the EMP for eiher 3, S5 torps or the 6 Marine squad package.

It is expensive to equip but worth it.

If you are looking for another fighter the Vanguard Harbringer or the Sentinel will be a good choice giving you the ability to engage larger target more sefely, another option is the Sabre that is a good small fighter with both a bit better weapons loadout and components then the Avenger.

Keep in mind that the modular capability are coming into play in the short time (hopefully) and even if the first implementation will be only for the Retaliator the Vanguard is likely to follow "shortly" so it could be a better investment of in-game credit in the relative long run.

At this point in time I've not been able to buy a new graphics card with actual money. I've never been so pleased to own the GamePotato I have at the moment simply because I actually have one.

Dear mister Maynard

We evaluated your proposition and we are sorry to notify you that it has been deemed
poorly implemented and overally lacking at best.

Our management wish you all the best hoping that this abrupt wake from your delusion
may crush your heart for ever and ever

Kind Regards and see you in the 'verse

Just throwing this out there because ive had a lot of fun with it recently. The Freelancer MIS has been awesome. In arena commander I figured out that replacing the 4 gattlings with size 3 panther repeaters gave me the edge. Lasers = no ammos. Then, you get a whole suite of size 3 missiles. Its decently maneuverable and can take a beating.
