I'm disagree. The first design has had enough windows:

Plus there is a saying: style over substance. CIG should not only follow the most "possible" design but keep an eye on coolness and style. Because style pushes the sales numbers, and finally we are talking about a computer game, or am I wrong?
For one person maybe. URSA is about science, exploring and cargo.

Manned Rovers need windows, not just for the driver but for scientist. It would be crappy to be on a radioactive planet with a science team and keep telling people to move over let me see.

I expect that to be a combat APC, with marines jumping out the back. That fits the profile of something like this,

Most of those windows point more upwards and very little forward.

Look at photo 1 and then look at photo 2.

They had to change it as in photo 1, it is FAAAR too big to even fit in a Connie.....

The smaller one doesn't look quite as good but also bear in mind that photo 1 is drawn by a talented artist and photo 2 is in game footage?

I think you are overreacting Samantha ;)

Exactly my thoughts.

The current Ursa looks like a explorer/scientific rover while the older looks like an APC. I like both. Maybe we can get the older, grizzled APC as an upgrade :/

I can tell you exactly what the problem is with the new Ursa - It does not look like RSI designed it to go with the Connie, it looks like MISC designed it to go with the Freelancer. Its round, not angular. Its got a big glass canopy, not a lattice of greenhouse windows like the Connie, at least the Merlin is made by another company, but come to think about it why couldn't RSI have made its own pointy little snub to go with its own design and make even more £££/$$$ on every Connie sale?

RSI has a certain look and the Ursa 'aint it. Strap it to the back of the Prospector to help with mineing and give the Connie something to be proud of.

I love me some LAV, tell you what, when youre in the shit theres nothing better than hearing that "THUMP THUMP THUMP" and knowing theres some 25mm going downrange (well except possibly a dose of BRRRRRRTTTTTTT)

But i think some people may have the wrong idea here? I thought the Ursa was an exploration vehicle not a ground combat AFV? potentially you could have variants, but a milspec AFV is hardly an exploiration vehicle

Soooo exploration through superior firepower and maneuver..... I mean it works in my head...

It's not as good as that - if it was a smart car rover you could fit three in you're conny!

My issue with the rovers is, it sounds to me they intend to introduce a third class of weapons between personal and ship for vehicles, and shields that are smaller than ships' shields as well, so no matter how beasty a rover, an Aurora LN or an Avenger could very easily put it down. If you're familiar with the history of armored personnel carriers you know they're bullet magnets and if they can't stop incoming fire, all they do is give opponents a target to shoot at.

I'd much prefer to use an Avenger for short haul transports on the surface, and fly it with either the Tigerstreik or even a Mantis. On a close support craft, that Mantis would be nasty. Probably we will never see a rover that can take a hit from that and survive. The issue is that the rover is carried by the Carrack, but it still looks like an Avenger will fit in the Carrack's bay and if you have an Avenger aboard you should be able to swap out combat crew carrying capacity with the EMP Generator. Those two should make great additions to the Carrack's bag of tricks.

If you really think you'll need surface transport, throw a couple Dragonflies aboard. Just remember, soldiers on foot will always be harder to hit than vehicles, so the only reason to have a vehicle is if it can stop incoming fire, and they probably can't stop any ships' weapons.
