Ireland has one of the largest exchanges in Europe apparently, Apple built it. It connects much of Northern Europe to North America through Cork.

So what exactly the fuck is with my ping over 9000

In exchanges you mean something like central hub for global Internet connection? If so then in Frankfurt(Germany) is the largest in the world. So why do I also have such a high ping?
