Long Post but I’ve been lurking and now need to get this off my chest.
The simple fact is that Shadow doesn't know how to read the room. I'm confident to say that most if not all of us here seek solace from real life issues in video games and video game communities. We come here to get away from politics, religion, culture war issues, etc. TEST is an international organization with members from all over the world complete with diverse viewpoints. It really irks me to no end that our mutual friend here is hellbent on inserting his unsolicited, very American, very Far Right world view here with all the subtlety of a bull in a China shop.
For the record I'm an owner of firearms. I'm a member of a fairly exclusive range and until recently, shoot regularly. I have Sig Sauer and CZ handguns along with an assortment of rifles from .22 to .308. Hell at one point I was seriously considering becoming a fulltime film armorer which would grant me access to fully automatic firearms.
Humble brag aside, I generally don't talk about any of this because I can read the room. I acknowledge that firearms can be an uncomfortable subject for many people, especially folks from countries with strict laws on their possession and usage. In other words it's a matter of RESPECT that I stay away from this topic.
Now onto a personal story....
In the Summer of 2017 I was travelling in Europe and towards the tail end of the trip I found myself in London. Only a couple of weeks prior to my arrival, the
2017 London Bridge Attacks took place. One night I stumbled out of a pub in Soho super late (Made out with a French Au pair who was way too young for me....ah fun times). Because the Tube was closed and knowing that London cabbies cost an arm and a leg, I ended up calling an Uber.
Anyway the driver who picked me up happened to be of mixed Indian and Pakistani descent. He was talkative and we hit it off instantly. I think he was just relived that I wasn't unfriendly because of the recent spate of Islamic terrorism.
We talked about where I was from, where his family was from, travel, football (We both like Arsenal), and food. Guess what happened next? My new found friend ended up showing/driving me around the city for free the following day and even bought me lunch at an Indian place in Brick Lane, East End. That's to this day still the best Indian food I've ever had.
What's the point of my story? Well I'm trying to make the point that this person is a person. He's not a number, statistic, member of some rape gang, and would be potential criminal. Had I treated him like a terrorist, rapist, whatever I would have never had this experience and be for the poorer for it.
Whatever our mutual friend here says about 'Pakistani Rape Gangs' is dehumanizing bullshit. It's fucking racist garbage undoubtedly dredged up from some Far Right source and he ought to be ashamed of himself. Dude sits in his room in New Jersey or wherever the hell he is, watches a couple of YouTube 'documentaries', and thinks he can pass judgement on an entire continent/people.
Mind you this is the same individual who constantly falls for the worst clickbait Star Wars videos (Still think Keanu Reeves is gonna play Revan? lol) and AI generated crap. I remember him posting some fake movie trailer that was immediately debunked by our eagle eyed members here. What does that tell you about his judgement in general?
Pity he'll never see this of course because I'm still blocked by him (Badge of honour). Notice how he's so quick to block people? What a special snowflake.
