When I was a kid there was a thing called "Leet Speak" which was where you swapped letters for numbers, like "S0 Gr8 m8, 31337 sk11z g4m3r" or whatever. I know I don't have elite skillz but seeing 1337 every day for weeks has got to be a sign of something, even if it's only Pavlov Conditioning... Hmmm If only I knew what my activation phrase was...? "Breakfast is signalled with a silver spoon" or "It was you who broke my mason plate" or similar?

That's still up for debate.
Personally I think it was kids that learned about the Caesar Chiffre but figured it was too unnecessarily complicated.
