That's a good point, i think the javelin was around 60 or 70 to crew(not sure what the skeleton crew would be) and as they quoted the battle cruiser to be almost double the mass,space/size(cant remember verbatim) then I guess it would be around 100 to crew it. Surely if instancing would allow in the final product that our awesome TEST org could field an Odin, javelin and 8 Idris ;)
Why stop at one each? For every battlecruiser there should be two (or more) Destroyers and 4 or more Frigates.

Good luck getting your Odins Guys the entry requirements are a bit bananas - but CIG have been bananas for a few years.

I can supply either willing meat for the grinder, or my Perseus to help assist keep the skies clear for you to magesically aim at the sun without interruption.

Ah well, somehow I am beginning to expect "guides" popping up that explain why the Odin is gonna be the perfect home base for solo miners.
Though thats bogus.
Obviously the Ironclad is much more viable.

It will be interesting to see how CIG scales the power of the Odin. Until now they have generally offered an obvious boost in power per player at each size increment upgrade. That’s going to be very hard to do with such a big ship. Anyone want to bet on three, triple S12 turret guns like the battleships of yore?

I think it'll be something along those lines. The Idris has a S10 mount, the javelin has S12 torpedo and S9 main cannons with a few S7 turrets. Wouldn't be too far fetched to think the battle cruiser would have S11/12 main cannons. Not sure it would have 9 in total but 6 I can imagine.

Well, by definition a BattleCruiser has the maximum of guns with the maximum of speed while keeping down armor to one of the lesser viable values.
Basically they are gun-totting hunters, not vanguards.
Makes sense that we see it first at Drakes little party.
It's exactly the kind of ship they tend to make.
Maybe with an additional hint of product testing since it's of Anvil make.
Anyway scalliwagy, ready ya sabres!
Me reckons we found ourselves a new Queen Anne's Revenge!

PS: What do you think it will take to gather a group to man a ship like that?
A) Grand battles against the Vanduul NPCs ?
B) Parading around in populated areas to bath in the envious coms chatter?
C) Ganging up on fellow players?

Personally I would man/bring out the beast to fight an epic vanduul invasion, Fight other orgs/players to claim space/land for our station/base and in defence of said place or to break blockades from pirates/players to allow humanitarian aid to the planet.

Well that's noble of you good sir.
The question though, since actually pretty damn ancient times, is how to gather a crew without the inclusion of looting and plundering in any form.
Don't get me wrong. Initially it should be easy to gather a few people just from the sheer novelty and size of the ship. Though if tourists like that are efective in a battle is debatable.
But a crew that knows the ship and knows what they are doing?
And simply happy with serving the Org, the Empire or Humanity as such?
In numbers needed for a ship of that size?
Well good luck and godspeed with that.
But whatever you do, do not name her "Bounty".
It might get the crew ideas... 😽

I think this will sound very corporate and canned but I think it is true. Players respond to leadership. You need to lay out a well formed plan, the details to accomplish that plan, illustrate the goal and make that all sound appealing. In most instances, the goal will be something like becoming the most effective and notorious ship in game, and the plan how to involve everyone in immersive training, cross training, etc. How will you manage schedules so the necessary positions are all filled, and what will training consist of? How are reliability and regular attendance rewarded? How often will you fly together? What will the gathered group times be like? What do exercises look like? Do they include their own targets so you know players really get the experience they need? What will be our martial objectives and why should the crew believe the Captain can deliver on promises of fortune and glory?

If a player believes they will be a part of a well-oiled machine, perched and ready to collect reputation, etc.; they will go the extra yard. If they think the Captain hasn’t thought through how to keep them busy, they won’t be back for more.

I keep saying it. This is why we need beer.

You know, this is why glass bottomed tankards were used....to avoid accepting the King's Shilling and forcible conscription. There were other reasons of course, but that's the most famous story...

So if someone comes up to you talking about a battlecruiser, don't drink the beer...or at least make sure it's enough beer that you don't mind.

Too much work. The simple goal is to crash the ship as often as possible. After all, how else can we recreate this?

IMHO, that was the most stupid fucking plot to ever hit Hollywood. I love hating that movie. What a piece of shit premise. I can’t believe to this day someone convinced Harrison Ford it was worth his time.

I break with you, I break with you, I break with you and throw dog poop on your shoes.

Come mow Shadow you know even before a few beers hit our system we would never be able to do a single orbit of the Odin we would be crashing into each other. While I'm sure there will be times when we do put forth a serious effort and accomplish goals but I cant imagine how much more time will be spent seeing just what sort of shenanigans we can get away with.

Let's see...
Star Wars Episode 7 (and a cameo in 9).
Indiana Jones 4 and 5.
Captain America: Brave New World.
Oh, and did anyone actually watch Hollywood Cops?
Guess Mr. Ford is a professional after all.
If the pay is good he'll do the job. 🤑

umm, from what I remember of the film and the book, they are actually not that far off from each other.
Ender's Game was a book originally. 1985 IIRC. The Ansible, children commanding/piloting the warships and squadrons via faster than light instantaneous communication links, kids killing kids in an academy, Ender being a grade A psychopath? Pretty much exactly like the book was. The most advanced ships going to the nearest worlds, again, just like the book. They sent the first ships to the farthest known targets so they could all arrive at approximately the same time.

So, if you want to blame anyone for Ender's Game...blame Orson Scott Card, as he was the person who authored the books.

As an FYI, he goes nuts in a different way after the way in the second and third books. He was called Xenocide and despised for what he did in the war, and he called himself the Speaker for the Dead.
Oh, and his brother and sister (the brother being an even bigger psychopath) pretty much take over earth as kids writing under pseudonyms,

So again, don't blame Hollywood for this movie or the insanity of the books.

Oh man, Ender's Game was alright, decent enough, but Speaker for the Dead is a book that really wowed me - I thought it was absolutely brilliant. Haven't read any of his others.
