Pirate interdictions?

I was playing 3.0 tonight when something happened that has not happened before. I got a quantum drive warning message, the ship started to shimmy, shake and shudder (but no, it did not start to come apart). Then it dropped me out of quantum with a pirate ship nearby. Fortunately, I was able to boost up to max speed, blow by them, and then jump back to quantum space before they could damage me.

Since this was the first time I saw it, I was wondering of others had a similar issue between delamar and port olisar or between other points previous to this? It might be a “pirates are camping this area” mechanic, or it might be to me doing some actual missions yesterday.

Any other thoughts?

Oh, one thing to note. If you are not in a fighting ship, don’t thing about fighting your way out. Instead, think about escape. Fighting a cutlass in a caterpillar is suicide without gunners. Instead, run straight at them boosting to max afterburner speed towards your quantum beacon. Since they will need to change directions and overcome their original velocity, it will give you more time for your engines to cool down and reset. Once they come back online, jump for safety.

Also, if a corridor is being patrolled, try jumping in legs instead of direct. Using Cellin or yela as waypoints might take you out of the interdiction path

Yes a few of us have experienced it, including every 10,000 Km (that was fixed though, it's over 80 interdiction's to Levski if not.) You got pretty much the right tactic. In a caterpillar, it'll take them a while to do much damage so you have a pretty good chance to escape. Thing is if you are taking a cat out for a spin, no big deal if you get blown up. But if it's on the return trip from Levski and you're busting the seams with cargo... You might want to think about an escort.

It happened to me too, and I'm pretty sure there were other player ships nearby when it happened to me, so I'm guessing it's not a personal thing, anyone making a jump on that line will get pulled out of QD (also when I got that there were multiple pirate ships, around 3~4)

Interdiction is such a old school flat two dimensional A - B travel route board game thinking....

The idea is really one of the worst they had so far IMO...

To be able to do a interdiction you need to know the exact set route A - B to your target, and of this point in game we only have a set end point.
If target deviate from that route as in have different starting point which you can have in a three dimension space where you have 6 direction of freedom it should be almost impossible to predict and do interdiction on such a target.

Only way interdiction could work in a 3 dimensional space is in the end of a known rout where you know the end point - B for if starting point is deviated then the travel line to the end point - B have change.

Where is A starting point have small deviation from starting point would not matter But...
Big deviations from starting point A would make it almost impossible to predict the route and interdiction in this case would be impossible to do.

And that is why I think it is a stupid idea from the start, shore you can do interdiction and get lucky almost always at the end - B arrival point but what is the point doing interdiction then.

Would just be easier to just jump to end of a known route and take the target when they arrive at point - B from a jump so interdiction would be useless function to add and such a waste of time coding that shit IMO and IMO it should be removed all together it is just a stupid useless pointless function that doesn't work in three dimensional space.

But this is my opinion and maybe it can be that they finally do some real Sci-Fi thinking and come up with something that make sense.

CHEERS! :beers: :beers: :beers:

Edit: No I have not been interdicted yet so that I in anyway I give a shit, I just jump on and keep going...
( had game crash on me 5 or is it 6 times when it happen and that's really immersive NOT! )

Just another pointless immersion breaker IMO that make it so much more a shooter game than a space game,
IMO they need to start to get the thumbs out of their asses and get a lot more Sci-Fi in their thinking....
it is suppose to be 900 years in to the future.. a lot of times it feel more like WW2 game in space.

Don't get me wrong, I love this game it's a dream come true and I almost live in it LMAO...

They keep turning on then off again both pirate and security interdiction.

They are far from realistic as no matter how far you deviate from the ideal path, you still get interdicted repeatedly.

I've had it happen to me 3 times so far twice in one on one combatt and I Killed them naughty bad persons .

Once I got jumped by 4 of them thank god i was running empty , i mashed the B button so hard ik thought I was goiing to push the keyboard through the table , anyhow survived again .

Yep, but would that person also have been dropped out of quantum at the same point? No idea and it is hard to get people interested in escorting with no method of payment...
Right now, the interdiction from Quantum Drive is NPC, they're pretty easy to get away from, or avoid. As far as getting an escort, get in Discord, make friends. That's got to be the best bet. I've already experienced help from fellow TESTies, and given help when I could, we're great if I do say so myself.

Player on player interdiction is the only concern at the moment, but seems to be pretty shallow and unimaginative tactics right now, mostly camping at outposts, or around a station. The only reason you'd get tangled up with one is if you weren't paying attention. You detect them 10Km out, so lots of time to make a decision.

The interdiction does seem a little out of place, if anything you would expect a blockade and your onboard computer would stop you from smashing into it at quantum speed but again you'd literally need hundreds of ships to have a successful blockade. Which isn't realistic.

I do think that if we can determine the ships trajectory then pirate ships could in theory use their own quantum drive to meet them and force the quantum drop but it's still a pretty awkward way of dealing with it as they would.need to know your location and your speed but it's 900 years in the future maybe this kind of thing exists. Like quantum drives give off a light speed pulse or gravitational wave or some such mechanic

I like that people are thinking about these mechanics. Griefers and campers aside, I think piracy in general is going to be a very risky and difficult part of the game, and encounters with legitimate and successful pirates are going to be quite rare. It's going to require a highly coordinated effort, using detection, stealth, and mobility among multiple ships - and your prize is likely going to be a busted up Freelancer, which are going to be empty half the time. That hardly seems worth the effort.

This sounds like all full of awesome sauce. I'm glad there is an easy way of escape, but I think if indeed you are flying in and out of outlaw space, this ought to happen regularly and with a growing threat.

I can't guess why everyone is taking this casually. I don't know of any other game that has enacted this gaming dynamic and it is one of the reasons I want to play SC!

Count me excited!

Has anyone seen an interdiction weapon yet? Last I heard there was proposed an S4 for the Bucky and then I thought they not only didn't deliver, but they removed the S4 mount from the Bucky? So what sort of ships are doing this and how?
