The Redeemer is no longer anything special. For troop transport you have the Retaliator dropship,Vanguard Hoplite,Redeemer and even can use a argo if you're brave enough ( Also you have ships like the Cutlass). Polaris all the way.

Additionally, we're probably looking at LTI for it - Idk about you guys, but an asset that size that we don't have to worry about loosing in combat is going to give us an insane edge if push comes to shove and we need bait / a rear guard / to ram any moons..

The exact reason that LTI is necessary for larger ships.
As well as being the perfect escort for the SS Murderer, a Polaris is the right size to be in between the Javelin and medium ships.

I voted yes because of the org Javelin. If it gets taken out for a spin/mission/mischief, it will instantly become a target. Tons of people have retaliators and gladiators. Seeing a cap ship will drive them into a frenzy. Suddenly, they will have a target for their torpedos. I can see them coming out in large quantities to try and kill the beast.

So, it will need an escort. It will need a large escort of the most capable ships we have. That includes ships like the Polaris. Besides, just about anything that the redeemer can do, the Polaris can do better.

I think a test Polaris will be much more useful - jump in wherever it's needed, provide heavy fire support, when done, jump to the next mission.

Rock raiders are under heavy attack as they've found an asteroid made purely of gold? Send the polaris in for half an hour. Need an escort for a Hull E full of gold? Send the Polaris in. Montoya need one ton of lemonade transporting in an Aurora? Send in the Polaris!

Etc. Maybe we should buy more than one? I would if I had more money.

It's bigger and more expensive, therefore we MUST HAVE IT.

But seriously, while I think it would be better to have a Polaris than a Redeemer,
a) we will probably have fucktons of people that melt off smaller ships (Redeemer, Reclaimer, BMM, Orion, etc etc)
b) let's wait to see if its a good price:performance ratio
c) it's also going to be "babies first capital ship" so most likely it's attainable for a single person, or more easily an individual squad.
