"
The Xi’an industrial shipbuilder, Gatac Manufacture, unveils its new interspecies commercial cargo hauler, the Railen.

This alien hauler has been adapted to suit mixed-species crews and, along with a huge cargo capacity and formidable weapons package, features a unique mix of Human and Xi’an facilities that make it unlike anything else in the ‘verse. "

Hmm interesting looking ship and.... this is not from AOPA???
That's mean a new ship manifacturer do a new flavour added to SC... and is sad ath the same time becouse that means it will stop the development of other manicafturer, like Crusader, that really need a wider ship pool.

Also this news comfirm the CIG tread in implementing all the ship concept that ware anticpated in CC2019... so we'll have and ARGO refining ship...

yup, somebody on reddit linked back to this photo...remember when they asked us which type of ship we wanted in 2019? It seems like CIG has been planning this for a while...which one of the 3 options do you think the Argo refining ship will be?

I hope this means weird and funky alien bathrooms that boggle the mind.

Weird mix of small and medium components. Wence comes the distinction between shield emitters and shield generators?
they are going to convert to having shield emitters on ships that can be damaged/destroyed (like the shield domes on the star destroyers in SW). ALL ships (including those already built) will have them eventually. They are going to introduce the tech tentatively in 3.16 according to the road map

To me, this looks like an Alien version of the Hull B, except more crew needed, 320 vs 384 SCU, and (IIRC) it can land on planets while the B can't
Now the B can land on planet. It has been said last year (need to find source again) when they made an article about redesigning the cargo box placement of the B to allow landing gear deployed with cargo stored.
So to me the B is far better than this one. B is smaller, less crew, can land on planet also (and Kraken too i bet, since medium size). Firepower aside of course.

Sexy, but mmm already many ships with the role... /me wonders.
Thats good though, look at all the fighters that exist...even different fighter styles/sizes have duplication/redundancy etc.

The 2 things I dont like about this new concept:

-Not sure why they made it so it has a BIGGER footprint when landed compared to when in flight, shouldn't it be the opposite?
-The turrets should be remote...

I also wonder how the tractor beam will come into play for this and if there are any interesting things this will allow.

Points I'd give as advantages over the Hull B and Taurus:

1. defense
2. handling (inside and out of atmo)
3. tractor beams (!!)
4. cool factor

EDIT: that cool elevator! And alien scratchy scratchy time

and disadvantages:

1. price (hull B is 90, taurus is 150, railen is 220).
1. Hull B carries more and can still land on planets. This could change, as the Hull B values are on shit stats page only.
2. Taurus gives the pilot more offensive options without dedicating credits to pay NPC or player crew.
3. Does not carry vehicles (while the taurus does).
4.Your profits will suffer a lot if using any kind of crew... but flying solo will mean no gun, even if bladed turrets are a thing=> the Railen don't have much in terms of computers, only 1 medium (the one used for basic ship operations).
