Salvage Division name?

With the introduction of salvage T0 into the game, maybe this is a time to talk about creating a Salvage Division within Test, or at least assign it to an existing division. I could easily see it fitting either in the Rock Raiders or Repair groups. It might also be different enough that it should have it’s own group. I can see towing services falling under the same division as salvage,

If Montoya and the rest decide to make it a separate division, I would like to throw out a few names for consideration, and maybe others could as well.

Test Recycling Services - recycling logo embedded in the Test logo
Test Waste Removal - cleaning up after ourselves one ship at a time. Test logo with a hand depositing something in a trash can embedded in the center.

I think it needs to be a seperate division to be honest. it is neither rock raiding or repairing!

Blind Owl, gotta throw a tow trucks lift (aka boom), chain, and hook in there too.

btw, SRV work (towing, recovery, etc) should be part of the salvage group once it comes into the game…just my opinion…

I'm not sure players doing salvage will benefit from grouping much past the size of a Reclaimer crew. I think players in the Sons of Orion storyline will want to have such crews they're accustomed to working with, and provide them with protection as they strip the hulls of Vanduul ships recently taken, but even very large caps ships are unlikely to benefit from more than 2-3 Reclaimers.

I'm disappointed we're settling for only a small portion of the Salvage dynamic put in game. It seems nearly everything CIG introduces is part of its intention with promises to the future. Yeah, the mining loop is pretty good, but the economy is intentionally broken so no one knows how well that will pay. Same with salvage. It ought to pay several times as much when practiced in Vanduul space, but who knows if that will ever pay competitively or not? Technically, salvage in a free economy in SC ought to pay much more on contested planets such as Orion than anywhere else, because they demand from rebuilding is super high, and the supply is severely limited because of the violence.

I'm not sure solo salvage in the Vulture will be the most effective way to go considering how weak the weapons are. The approach I'm planning to test the viability of with mine is to get some bounty hunting ranks up with some of my other ships then group up with others to run bounty missions (even new players that I let borrow one of the ships I use for running bounty missions) while I'm in the Vulture to pad the payday by salvaging the ships we take out. Due to the time constraint on Group Bounty missions I have a feeling those won't be very efficient for this approach, but there's a chance it could make standard bounty hunting missions at least as profitable for the time spent as group bounty missions.

Simple ways for a team up. A cargo ship like a freelancer, connie, MSR, or similarly sized vehicle can stand watch and maybe search out new wrecks while the vulture or vulture group it's shepherding picks at the ship carcass. Once they are full, they transfer cargo over to the other ship which then runs the load to port. This means you have a lot more opportunity to chew on larger wrecks and not be limited to the 16 SCU of cargo.
