Space truckers will definitely need escorts for larger convoys. Too tempting a target for those of ill intentions. Of course, we hope that none of TEST pirates will come after us... that would be one hell of a party foul.

I think in TEST, lines will blur. TEST's defense escort might just be someone else's pirates.

This is only me speaking (and by extension, any pirate group or sub-group I may spearhead or lead) as a TEST pirate, but ALL TEST members are hands off as far as I am concerned. I will be the first in line to pony up cash/hunt down "blue on blue" incidents. We're all here to have fun, it's not cool at all for someone to use TEST to plot out some easy pirate hits.

Now it might be the case that you can't see someones affiliation at a glance, especially if they're affiliated. But that's far enough down the road that I don't even know why I mentioned it.

Necroing this thread a bit due to recent and upcoming sales. I've picked up a Hull B and a Freelancer MAX to complement my Banu Merchantman.

I'm thinking very, very hard about picking up a Starfarer this Friday to get my foot in the fuel resupply business; it seems like it will be an always-in-demand job, a very reliable if not spectacular source of income. Not to mention, aside from the overhead, it's all profit.

A lot of the theorycrafting that has come in the wake of the Hull series release has been very interesting. It looks like there will definitely be different grades of space-trucking in this game, everything from easy and safe "milk-runs" in protected space, to dangerous, but profitable, smuggling in the outer regions. We have the Hull series craft, which are nowhere near as fast, maneuverable, or well-armed, as our previous ships. On the other hand, the larger ones especially have enough capacity to make up that shortfall with conventional cargoes. The freight and trading aspect of this game has definitely gotten much more interesting to me. Also, the details given about the cargo handling system are very interesting. I really, really want to get my hands on those for testing soon.

You have no idea how hopeful/ready/happy/excited I am for an actual good smuggling mechanic.

Well, the new release of the Reliant lowers the bar once again for people interested in getting into space trucking. Not only that, but as stated many other places, it will be an excellent trainer platform for multicrew ships, aside from the current lack of ejection seats.

Probably some kind of low-level Darwinism... those who need a ejection seat don't live long enough to get one.

Before I retired from federal service, part of my duties was managing our home unit fleet and peripherals. I come from a family that owned/operated a fleet of trucks, logistics is in my blood. I'll help run this side of things or just run cargo/fuel, what ever is needed.

As mentioned in previous comments, there must be sections or leaders within this unit responsible for different rolls ie: fuel logistics, mining ops support, etc.

Count me in where ever with my Starfarer, Max, Taurus and more (Merchantman, hull) when they come for sale again.

Hello fellow traders,

At first what I want to be in Star Citizen:
I want to be a trader for everyone. But not with a big transporter I think a Freelancer max or an Hull C would be enough if the cargo is valuable.

Next point:
I think we should splitt the litttle traders (smugglers) and the big traders for the mining company's. I mean split to organize it better but we still work together as an example: I have a cargo from a special customer it would be great If I know some test members that say yes to ervery order if the payment is right!

I don't think that smuggling or trading is a one man mission I think we need to work together to get the best payment out of it.

So this is a question to everyone what do you think about splitting the organisation and do you think equally as me about your trading in Star Citizen so pls write me I want to creat a group specialized for little but lucrative orders.

Maybe I also buy a Hull E and rent it for the group.

Ps.: sry for little mistakes in this long post I hope everything is readable.

Hello fellow traders...
So, there already is a small "chapter" of us smugglers that are going to be doing that as our main "profession". Here's the thread where that discussion is happening in case you missed it.

The long and short of it is that we'll be working in conjunction with our pirate (possibly sister org) to move their captured cargo if that's a mechanic. Also might be that smugglers can sell the alien artifacts or other such things that we loot off of UEE capital ships or steal from dig sites. Aside from that, we're also going to try and do the high value/low space trading that would facilitate good pilots and fast ships. I'm also planning on shaping the "smuggler ring" to work as a sort of black market connection for the rest of TEST in addition to HOPEFULLY working with other orgs (browncoats, couple orgs that streamers run, etc) to move/get stuff and or possibly keep up relations under the table (specifically mercenaries most likely).

Anyway, as it stands now it's nothing but theory crafting at this point since we haven't had an in depth post about smuggling mechanics.
