I regularly play openTTD still (opensourced remake of transport tycoon deluxe, free on steam), it's a masterpiece.It comes to us all eventually, I like my old shizz. There's a spiritual successor/remake to TA as well called Beyond All Reason, it's great.
Also Tomb Raider 1-3 still holds up, I heard the remakes work real well too although I've only played the originals in the last 2-3 years.
Let's not forget Warcraft 2, Starcraft, Quake and so many others, it truly was a golden age of gaming.
