He needed that... He is eating a bag of chips near me right now and testing my ability to resist going and buying some myself.
Resistance is futile. Your stomach, at this very moment, is churning with envy for my delicious snack.

I am still skeptical of how cap ship combat will work, when ships are insured. Unless Javs and Bengals take months to replace, how can there ever be anything like a real war?

I have heard what sounded like a plan that the larger a ship is, the longer it will take to respawn, but have not heard officially this is so.

In any case, I am personally looking forward to some group presenting themselves as a target so we can take their Javelins away. They are going to be hard to hold onto, given player lack of patience and need to actually PLAY during their playtime as opposed to babysitting a cap ship.

how effective do you think npc's will be at manning turrets or sheild how effective will a npc be in close combat? manning ships might be simpler then we think it all depends on how much those npc will cost but a hundred or more npc's aboard a capital ship might make it somewhat more difficult to capture and npc's wont pannic they will do has ordered so even if they are weeker then players maybe a npc doing what it is told be better then a player running around doing its own thing

I think CIG is on record that NPC's will be effective in boarding parties and turrets but not as effective as players. I think you want to have NPC's for defensive reasons, but when you pick the time and place of battle, you want players. For this reason attackers will always have some advantage. Also note that Vanduul do not appear to have the variety of armor that the UEE does, so probably one tactic will work well against all of them, whereas what you do against light, medium and heavy armor will be different.

Yeah, I did. The Idris has almost no fighter protection.
I think you may have misunderstood what I was trying to say.

The Idris carries 3 (4?) Super hornets on board. They would tear up the Talis before the Idris took much damage.

Similarly, you would need a decently large fleet of fighters to defeat the super hornets and then do much damage to the Idris, assuming fighter weapons are even effective against capital ships, which nobody really knows for sure at this point.

And if an Idris flies into a large group of enemy fighters solo, that's not so much a problem with the Idris. It just says the captain has no idea what he's doing.

i agree players will be more effective but the point i was trying to make was about those capital ships at the begining of this tread if i had one i would make sure all avaible spot not taken by a real player is filled with npc's because 50 to 60 attacking players (i think getting that many player to coordinate an attack will be a feat in it self) would have a real hard time againts 200 or more npc's i mean it would make no sens not to fill everyspot avaible in a ship

3-4 Super Hornets don't come as a package with the Idris. That's the reason I didn't include them in the comparison. If you want to add that on, that's fine, as long as you add an equal number of escort fighters to the Talis. And because of the Talis better ability to handle fighters, in general, than the Idris, I'd guess they"d go down with no loss of Talis and have several fighters left over, but there's no way I can prove that. I think, too, you underestimate how quick the Talis are.
