I had a blast Saturday. But ide like to make some recommendations. If your going to break people up in to squads, please make sure that the squad leader understands how we operate together. So perhaps choose people to help you lead the squads that you have run with be for and know that roll as squad leader. If you dont have any one like that might need to train some folks

Ok so basically fire team size. It’s probably better to run through some FTL training separately for everyone so that people understand the role, and can step in as availability changes.

My only experience is ARMA so I’m probably not the best person to discuss it, but maybe some of the TSMC guys with actual experience could run a basic “how to FTL” session?

How large were the squads?

So I totally agree with what all of you are saying, but this was all covered during the training Saturday.

Our event on Saturday was the first ever TSMC event and was intended to cover the most basic aspects of TSMC. Nobody had any training beforehand, and I outlined the expectation going forward that we will be gathering interest from potential squad leaders to have more in depth training.

Squad size is 3 to 6 because we need more people there in case if connection issues, real life taking precedence, varying skill levels, etc. If we have a couple people that are highly skilled that want to operate as a specialist team that is welcomed an encouraged, but we did not have that because it was the first ever TSMC event.

This coming Saturday we will have a follow up event based around the Twitch Pachenko (not sure if that's how you spell her name) mission so we have a little down time to do more focused training for returning players. Look for a post on that either today or tomorrow.

I do appreciate all the feedback and recommendations, please keep it coming.

There are many active duty- or ex-military guys in Test. I think you should try to engage them and offer them a squad leader role first; if there is not enough leaders selected this way, then you could train some volunteers. The basic training for the rest of Marines would be useful too.

I'm an ex-NCO, however I'm rather interested in Yellow Jackets, that I'm already a member of ; ) That said, I could help in case of a shortage of the experienced or trained leaders or commanders... I could also help with some training.

One point I'd like to make is that divisions, despite calling them "divisions", are not exclusive. Also, ultimately "TSMC" falls under "Yellow Jackets" in the grand scheme of things. These groups are being implemented as game functions are released so we can become familiar with how it all works. Everything will be adapted to new game functions and the group/division hierarchy will adjust as well.

To respond to the idea of soliciting experienced active-duty/retired military members for support I'm all for that. I will make it more clear in the following event threads that we need squad leaders, BUT... I can't make anyone show up. Right now we're getting the group started, and doing a pretty good job of that for one event so far. If those experienced people want to join us I welcome them to. I hope they do.

I'm a vet, but served in Desert Shield/Storm, worked in a computer/network center, and have been out for 24 years.. I hardcore need help :) but I had really good aim back in the day. Just don't ask me about combat tactics.

Om not military but I do enjoy flying as well as ground combat. So ide like to do both. I'll have my dual stick hopefully by this weekend. And I do like that idea of getting present or post active military personnel to assist us in good combat tactics

I'll sugget to do a few more "introduction" event and then start to try out fixed team and squad leader to provide a more constant training for the fireteam and the leader.
Few years ago I've use to play MachWarrior Online with an Italian Clan and back then we used "fixed" role based on every player attitude and preferences...
MWO is a geme whare coordination, tattics and comunication are foundamental to succeed in a match and have people that mostly play with a particular role really improve performance since most of the time both the player and the rest of the squad know what to do and how even whitout the drop leader (the player who was in charge to the "master plan" of the match) need provide fine direction and this can allow more quick and complex tattics to be carried out.

Is a bit early to aim for that organization in TSMC but if we could start to define the role that enyone likes we could start to work in that direction.

I suggest that we also start to think at a "standard" loadout for every role, like pointman, browler, marksmen, rifleman... both in term of weapon, armour and accessories.
This role will be twiked and expanded while the game progress in development (like, adding the medic role for example...), and then could be sligtly adapted in case of specific senarios like ship boarding, infiltration, point defence mission and so on...

Specialist are always welcome, but I find it a bit early to work for introduce them, both due to TSMC organization and mission available in the PU.
