oh, that just buried the lede. we can have more than one package on an account? hrm.....interesting.
Each additional package grants you a character slot to create a custom NPC to man your ship. You still have to pay them, but they'll be your permanent team instead of hired.

PS. They said you can buy the slots by themselves in the future, but I don't know if they'll be more than $15

Only if it's your last package. I had a couple packages cause I want the custom NPCs.

Now I have to decide if I want another $250+ ship or wait to see if they let you CCU downgrade in the future. I really want a Starfarer when they're hangar ready though.
Do you have any links to where I can read more about the custom NPC thing? Make your own Chewbacca? You will need a game package to do this? Never really understood but I am interested.

Why take an LX over an LN? just curious. Lore standpoint?
I don't yet have a computer capable of running the game, so purely because its rare at the moment, i want an aruora for the Test Glory and its a little bit different. It'll probably be worth nothing when PU goes fully fleshed out but hey it may be worth a little more UEE Credit on the second hand market for upgrades to my other ships because its DELUXE. Oh, it does mention in the literature on the website that it comes with a Jump engine, but they probably all do...

Its a stand-alone ship in the hanger of my original package alongside an Avanger which was originally an Aurora LN.

Talking of upgrading ships, i was wondering if someone could help me with this - I upgraded my Aurora LN to an Avenger Titan. Now the Warlock is available for a limited time i ant to upgrade the Titan to that... but can i upgrade an upgraded ship, or would i have to melt the module upgrade thing and use store credits?

EDIT - Answered this myself by just doing it. Worked a charm... how could a Vanduul ship i had no interest in cost me £50?

Dat sweet leather chair, plus hook up points for a minibar*

*minibar hookup not confirmed, nor even hinted at.

Good on you, dude. Our LX's will blot out the LN's blotting out the sun.
Man, I had an LN. But that LX, she got me by the short and curlies. Had to cheat my way out of the LN and into that gorgeous LX. I'm sorry old baby, but I have a new baby.

Also, I now have a Blade. Only so I have that LTI melt in my hanger, really. But hey, why not, right?
It'll end up being a Carrack anyways.

buy the Blade(Sabre), let it hang for a couple days, then melt back to my Connie. No money spent, one token used, and then that concept ship is sitting in my melted ships pile for later should I so desire.

Any holes in this plan?
Just one: melting the Sabre, you also melt your LTI.
I don't understand the sentence with the "melted ships pile": melted is gone, means money instead of ship; so, there is no "pile" left...?

I've upgraded my Connie Aquila to LTI :) First melted it into a Sabre, than upgraded the Sabre to Vanguard Warden (fine ship, btw.!) and finally upgraded the Warden to the Connie. The detour was necessary because RSI does not offer the direct upgrade from Sabre to Connie.

melted ship pile just means he can use 'Buy back pledges' feature later on to get his LTI Saber back

if you go to your RSI account / My Hanger / Buy back pledges section you can see all the ship you bought/melted, if you have a Credit token you can use store credits to get one back (1 token per quarter/non stacking)

if you have cash you could buy them all back at once if so desired

I have one for now, simply because I think it's more likely that the Blade will be flight ready before my Redeemer will. If not, well I have about 10 spare Vanguard -> Redeemer -> Blade -> Vanguard upgrades.

I don't think I'll keep it at all, Redeemer is likely to be much better bang for buck, but it seems like a fun ship to play around in.

Amen to that. The 'Deemer is a gorgeous ride, but the wait is killing me. In the meantime, that's $250 bucks I can use to play with other ships.

Hm, thanks for your answer. I don't understand it at all, but will try to find out how this works (tonight :))

As a newby I was sort of wondering how everyone got LTI on their ships and if a new concept ships comes along I guess I burn a few ships and buy a few just to get LTI and then get the upgrade. The blade will no doubt look cool but how good a pilot will you have to be if the shield is S1 and it has no durability at all. I have a hard enough time living in the sabre with the current shield bug and its hard to see the Blade living longer even with no bug. (I know it can and will get rebalanced).

Only a few people are getting the blade to keep it. A lot of people are just getting it to “upgrade" into another ship. The reason for this is to get LTI on a ship that does not have it anymore.

This is mitigated by not being able to hit it. Sounds like this is supposed to be a pavk hunter that flies in group and alpha strikes people and then uses it "cruise mode" to fly away turn around and do another strafing run. In a 1 vs 1 dogfight it will outmanuever a vanguard or saber to get position and maintain holding on their 6 to dispose of them.
