The Witcher 3, ahead of the Netflix show; I think I'll enjoy it more if I refresh my memory of the setting and lore before it drops.
Interesting idea, I'd think avoiding any Witcher content would help more, as they said that the show will totally ignore the games, and bend the books to their needs... still, I have much hope for this show, can't wait to see it!
(Also when they were filming here, I should have sent a tweet to Mr. Caville saying"I can see your house from here!" Cos I totally can from my window lol)

I finished The Outer Worlds, and after my first very positive impression, it turned out that the story lines/quests are rather lame. Did some of the companion and side quests, but they were weak.
Doing the World of Tanks Christmas thingies. Got my presents (beta test mmember level), the Super Hellcat is really OP and fun to play.
If you are on an EU server, add me, so you can hide behind my wreckage every mach, guaranteed!
-same as cig handle
I'm waiting for 3.8 to drop to PU so I can start earning, renting, and exploring some more!

Not read the books (yet), but there's enough in the trailers to make me feel pretty familiar with what I'm seeing just from the games - that Geralt in the tub scene is straight out of The Witcher 3. I'm planning to squee like a fanboy at the familiar stuff - I'm sure the games borrow enough from the books for there to be a lot of common ground. Can't wait - may have to binge it all in one day!

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous just came out and it's addictive as hell! I've always loved d&d adventure games, but this one is done super well.
I've only heard good things about it from friends as well, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous seems to be the thing to play right now if you like fantasy/DnD/Baldurs Gate type of stuff.

Due to kids interests and mine, I bought Bus Simulator 21 yesterday.
Don't make the same mistake, the negative steam reviews are correct and not overreactions.
It is rather trashy, half finished, glitchy, you have to be online (despite singleplayer mode) and sign away all your data and shit. Most importantly The driving feels awful. I'll probably refund it today, 35 eddies is too much for this level of half-baked. Maybe by the time it's down to 8-10Euros, it will be alright.

I'd instead recommend Bus Driver from 2007. Yes, that's not a typo. 2007.
It's 1.59 eddies on Steam at the moment, or 7.99ED when not on sale. Despite the graphics and limitations it's fun simple game with hilariously bad traffic and lights, but the physics just feels right and the timetable is really challenging (but doable, mostly). Use of keyboard instead of anything fancy is also recommended for the full on passenger screams!
It's made by SCS, makers of EuroTrusckSim/ATS so if you like those games, I think you'll enjoy this as well. For the price it's awesome and its "runs on a calculator" levels of old, so it's the perfect fit for the old laptop you got lying around. It's also perfectly family friendly as you can't run over anyone or do any visible damage.

The most recent favorite of mine is Car Mechanic Simulator 2021.

If you have any interest in cars or faffing-about type of games like House flipper and such, this is a good choice as well.
It is a welcome upgrade compared to the previous (2018) edition, with better graphics, slightly more detailed and more correctly shaped parts, more modern cars, an electric car DLC so you can try repairing a model 3-alike (kinda maybe worth it imo), or if you are into Nissans there is already a licenced DLC for that (totally not worth it for me), and some minigames for using repair tools like the tire balancer. Also there are some more things to do now, like wash the car, using scraps to upgrade parts, wheel alignment, and building tuned cars for the story missions. The skill progression system is better as well. It took me about 40-45 hours at a leisurely pace to get every upgrade for my shop while already owning multiple fully repaired and upgraded cars of my own. And yes, you can drive every car you come across in the game on an airfield, a test track and race track. You can now also paint every single part of the car to any color you want, which I just found out about while checking the price on steam lol.
I've played train/airplane/tank/motorcycle mechanic sims so far, and they all lack in flow and/or detail, this has the most logical and streamlined yet detailed enough build-progression system and interface from all of these casual vehicle mechanic games.
Last but not least, with the parts being shaped mostly correctly, it's a great way to learn the very basics of how a car is made up under the skin.
Price is 20.99eddies (demo available as well).

Been mixing things up lately - tried a few indie titles, but I keep coming back to speed stars. It’s simple, addictive, and surprisingly competitive when you start chasing your own best times. Anyone else here tried it yet?

Very nice necrothread btw. Never heard of speed stars, but I wanted to make the meme of "real men" play QWOP

Now that it's been released, I have been super into Anno 117. I just wish they hadn't used AI to create the artwork in the loading screen, it looks like dogshit when viewed closely.

Sopwith (1984), Transport Tycoon (1995), Carmageddon (1997), Interstate '76 (1997), Minecraft (2011).

Remember, just because a game is old doesn't mean it isn't new to you and there are some total gems out there 🙂
Still playing Sopwith and Transport Tycoon, completed Carmageddon and Interstate '76 and phased out of Minecraft as it got all newfangled.

Picked up Total Annihilation (1997) which is neat and very replayable.

If you wanna play more TA without buying another game that fails to imitate it's glory, I'd recommend trying Beyond All Reason. It's basically modern TA but 100% free!
Congrats on finishing I76, I never managed to do that as a kid!

Helldivers 2, in the bin! I finally got rid of it's bloated carcass. 150gigs was a joke really for a game so small, and I really needed the space for work.
It hurt to let it go but I've been holding on to it's rotting corpse for months now, I had to admit it at some point... It used to be a fun game, obviously I haven't put 335 hours into it because I hated it.
But when for what felt like the hundredth time the devs deployed a new patch that was so broken that even CIG wouldn't touch it, and showed even more proof that they do not want us to have any fun and are absolutely unwilling or incapable of understanding their own game and it's players, I was done for good. They are still trying to turn it into a very serious sweaty calculated hard as dark souls strictly team-based tactical shooter.
Mr.whomevertheF CEO just can't put aside his ego and admit that instead, they made an above all else fun cinematic power fantasy shooter the gaming world hasn't seen in the past 10+ years, and since launch they've been working 24/7 to make it into something that it isn't. They reap what they sow. Player numbers dwindling by the day, down to 20ks. But I'm still really effing angry that they took my toy away.

A game I haven't touched since launch got some nice updates, so I've popped back into
Sea Power: navel wombat in da messiah gauge.
Way too long and dumb title, also unrepresentative of the 95% of players who play it for the submarines/ASW.
Fun game, having modern 3D graphics for your "markers-on-maps" / "spreadsheets sim" is pretty dang cool! It still needs some work to get it fleshed out (like the very overpowered wake homer torps ignore 20m high waves surface conditions and such small nuances that get you unfairly killed), but I have already happily spent countless hours going after weak signatures that turned out to be just whales.
So if any of you are into modern naval warfare, I highly recommend giving it a try!

Also on the side I've finally got OpenMW Morrowind working with a nice small starter lineup of a 105 mods thanks to a modlist installer.
Haven't really played that one since way back when it was a new game, and I didn't speak much English yet. That was a rough time to play such a game lol, but I might actually finish the main story this time!
Still an amazing true RPG, with options and choices that actually make a difference in your gameplay, not just in a couple of meaningless voice lines like the modern slop of The Utterlybored Worlds 1-2 and the travesty that was Bloodlines 2. With the mods it looks perfectly serviceable, runs stable at a 120fps in 1080p like any modern game, has bloom and lightrays and whatnot...
I know ppl liked to mod Skyrim, I never did, but Morrowind holds a special spot in my past for being the first game I added my own 3D models to. A pair of elven swords and daggers. Looked horrible, but they worked.

Played through Power Wash Sim 2, was rushing a bit because I wanted to beat it before the XBoxpass price hike.
If you really enjoyed the first one, I think it's a worthy successor and worth a purchase during the holiday sale.
They got rid of having to buy soap, which no one ever did cos you needed the money for the upgrades, now it's only limited to surface area, but "recharges" as you clean it off. Story is ... no idea, haven't read any of it. Still something about aliens and ancients and caves with singin crystals... The stuff to clean are varied enough, some better some worse, but overall pretty good chill time. No idea about mulitplayer mode, probably same as before.
It's a very kid friendly title (I think, unless there's something bad in the story texts).

If you missed the hype cycle when every streamer was playing Supermarket Simulator, but like "workplace sim" style games, it's a solid choice. I'm like 10 hours in and it hasn't gotten boring yet, there's always something to manage. Since shoplifters can just be turned off altogether, it's also kid-friendly (unless you get to sell some "'dirty mags" or similar later on but I don't think that's a thing).

Derail Valley is a constant on my "recently played" on steam. After a very long wait, the modders figured out how to add more trains again (got broken ages ago with an overhaul patch). So I've been blowing up (by accident) some freshly modded steam trains from the UK, and burning up the brakes on some Polish diesel beast because I couldn't find the handbrake release.
Do you want to try driving a train that is easy to learn but hard to master? Do you wanna crash said train into a line of tanker cars at an oil refinery and see what happens? This is the game for you!
It's like playing Transport Tycoon but you are the only train driver, in first person, having to haul stuff around to make money. I don't think there's anything like it out there.
Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator comes close in that it is first person, kinda open world-ish, and you do drive a train, but thats a very very different game with AKs, mines, bears, and lots of vodka. Still fun, janky as hell, but fun!

Thanks, I was hoping there was a bicycle for the last level when you go up against Carlos DeFunghi due to Groove saying "Give me a bicycle" in the last scene, but did you know you could take the police helicopter in the vehicle selection screen?
