May be worth renting this ship just to practice strafing. What about the m50? She a good one to practice with?
Well, the M50....... I battle TEST her....awesome!!!! You can't take her alone in a fight, she is very good at supportive fire or take her into a big wave and fight, keep the wave busy until the cavalry arrives. You got to take care that you don't black out. 2x s2 aren't fast killers but she is small, fast and very nimble. Don't forget to apply the strafe,otherwise you will be crashing into your targets. She has 2 missiles, fast lock, good kill, let me check them out.... Marksman I !!!!! RSI must have boosted the missiles on the M50!!!!! They kill at once, even the elite fighters.

Weapon group configuration on the F7C-M Super Hornet can be a pain to get it done right. It seems like the weapon selection is random, but there is a logic behind it.

I loaded the hornet with 2 panthers on wing, I replaced the canard turret with another Panther, I replaced the ball turret with a flashfire specialty mount.
Press F6
1st place is the canard Panther, 2nd place is the left wing Panther, 3rd place is the ball turret, 4th place is the right wing Panther. The ammo is sorted on the bottom
As you can see, fg1 has a Panther on 2nd and 4th place, fg2 has a Panther on 1st place a cannon on 3rd place.
upload_2016-8-6_12-43-6.png

Do you see the ammo places? fg1 on 1st and 2nd place a Panther, fg2 on 1st place a Panther and 2nd place the cannon.

If you go with your mouse over fg1, then next image will appear.
upload_2016-8-6_12-44-1.png

Don't look at the guns, look at the ammo. If you want to group all 3 Panthers in fg1, then you must select the 3rd weapon. The picture says cannon, the ammo says Panther.

Result is below, all 3 Panthers in fg1, 3rd Panther seems not to be selected, but ammo says it is selected ;)
upload_2016-8-6_12-48-29.png

If you move out off fg1 with the mouse, next image will be shown.
upload_2016-8-6_12-47-16.png

If you want to remove the Panther from fg2, then you must deselect the 1st place, but remember, when the Panther is gone, the cannon ammo will move to 1st place.

If you really messed up, you can fix this simple. Deselect all weapons from a firegroup. The ammo is matching the selected status, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place is a Panther.

Leave the firegroup with your mouse and reenter it again

As you can see, since no weapon is selected, weapon and ammo match again. Select all weapons you want to have in fg1 without get focus off fg1 (get mouse out off fg1). 1st, 2nd and 4th weapon.

With 3 Panthers and one cannon it is really simple, bullet ammo (100%) is Panther, cannon shells (120) is cannon. With mixed repeaters you can't tell on the ammo which kind off repeater you have.
I loaded the hornet with 2 panthers on wing, I mounted 2 Bulldogs on the canard turret, I mounted 2 Badgers on the ball turret.
upload_2016-8-6_12-20-18.png

1st and 2nd place is the canard turret, 3rd place is the left wing gun, 4th and 5th place is the ball turret, 6th place is the right wing gun. 2x repeater ammo in fg1, 4x repeater ammo in fg2.

If selected all weapons in fg1.
upload_2016-8-6_12-31-27.png

The ammo position will match with the weapon image.

If I remove the left Panther form fg1 (3rd position), leave fg1 and reenter fg1, then 1st and 2nd place will match, 3rd ammo is 4th weapon, 4th ammo is 5th weapon, 5th ammo is 6th weapon. To remove the right Panther I now must deselect the 5th ammo.

It is al little bit confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes very logical ;)
[EDIT] Damn, the forum didn't follow me. Now I must repeat the whole process to get all images fixed :(

I would love to see a video of you re-arranging within the groups via Voice attack
I did it with my G13.
If a camera gets a glimps of me or my messy desk with my proof of concept flight chair, it will instantly explode :cool:.
And luckily the camera didn't explode :D

Change firegroups, first FG1 with 2 Panthers, then FG1 + FG2 with 3rd Pather and a cannon, after change first FG1 with 3 Panthers, then FG1 + FG2 with a cannon.
The swap can only be done once, to change the weapons back to their original firegroups, I must make a new script ;) The firegroup changes depend on weapon loadout and default designation.

Swap firegroups, First FG1, then FG1 and FG2

The scripts can run on every G-series device, G-keyboards, G-left hand controllers like the G13, G-mouses.

Ow, by the way, everybody including me can't google, guess what I found after uploading the vids...

All is done by a simple script:

function OnEvent(event, arg)
if (event == "PROFILE_ACTIVATED") then

OutputLogMessage( "profile has been activated" );
end

if (event == "PROFILE_DEACTIVATED") then

-- fg1: y 30000 fg2 y 36200 fg3 y 42200
if (arg == 1) then
-- enter HUD weapons mode

if (x > (endx + offset)) then
stepx = -step;

stepx = step;
end

stepy = 0

stepy = -step;
end
if (y < (endy - offset)) then
stepy = step;
end

MoveMouseRelative( stepx, stepy);
Sleep(sleep);
end
end

The hardest part is to find the correct coordinates. I have a setup 3 displays (actually 4, but the 4th on top doesn't count for Star Citizen) left 1280x1024, middle 1920x1080, right 1280x1204. This results in a playable desktop of 4480x1080. Other display setups require different coordinates. To make it easier I mapped the G7 to get the mouse coordinate. The coordinate is shown on the LCD when I press G7.

My only tip for flying is to never fly dirrectly at your opponent and never let them do the same to you. Keep strafing and orbiting your opponent to make it harder for them to hit you. The only issue with that is you have to be aware of debris around that you could hit and you need to get your aim down. You may run into me every once in awhile in arena commander, my handle is TheAwesomeDude.

Edit: i forgot somthing. If you fly a sabre never ever orbit someone by strafing up or down. when you get into orbiting fights you have to lead the target more to hit. This means that shots will be coming in from your sides and hitting you there. But if you strafe up and down they have a far bigger surface area to hit compared to your sides.

[Question] Anyone know what the current good weapon combinations are? I havent played too much or payed attention to the meta since the Mantises got nerfed. I mainly fly my saber and 325a and I have always been partial to combinations of energy and balistics that sync up well but the mantises and repeaters. At the moment I use the panther and my Omniskys on my 325a and I am mono-boating Broadswords on my sabre but should i try something else? Also what are good missiles right now? tempest 2 thinking of grabbing tempest 2s but are there any better?

Since I fly very evasive, strafe, boost, it is hard to get a good solid aim. Thats why I prefer repeaters. For short range I like to use Gatling guns. Missiles are only to keep targets busy evading, so I can concentrate on shooting them ;)

Hehehehe, just trigger me, tickle my interest and if possible I will try to find an answer.
Yeah, you're great like that. :D
Makes me wish I had more time to devote to the game right now, so I could start passing back valuable content to others, rather than just shitposting all the time. Ha.

Your shitposting is your way to help this org!!!! Keep the shit up, it really helps me ;)
Yes Sir! And thank you Marc.
I reckon I shouldn't short-change myself. I do add a decent amount of non-shitpost content, I just feel like I've fallen behind recently. I simply don't have the time to devote to getting onto my computer and getting into the game. Most of my forum posts are done from my phone while I'm rocking a baby to sleep, cooking dinner, or taking a poop. Haha.
