will your liver hold out long enough to build that Aurora?I worked on the aluminum last night. Got 30 cans

I TIG weld quite a bit in my spare time and the idea of welding a ship together has crossed my mind. Sadly, I lack a CNC plasma cutter or water jet that I would need to cut the metal pieces out with.@RiceMaiden might be able to get the cut out parts you'd need to cut out of sheets of aluminum then tack them together
Dunno, but he's good at stuff like that
Haha, practice marriages have a tendency to jade even the most rosy of personas. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:Wow....It's been a long day. I read the thread title as "Wedding soon, How do I even?" My first though was why the hell would you want to???
Ok...ya.....I'm jaded.
I work at an HVAC company with a plasma table, air shear, cross break, etc... And a metric shit ton of metal. I'm in the Seattle area. As a fan of your work, I hereby volunteer my services (within reason weight wise for shipping purposes). Pm me with what you need and I'll see what I can do.I TIG weld quite a bit in my spare time and the idea of welding a ship together has crossed my mind. Well we'll start the project in a couple weeks. It's army, so I'll do a week off PowerPoint and then get handed explosives and a torch. I'm not even sure at this point what material we're working with.I work at an HVAC company with a plasma table, air shear, cross break, etc... And a metric shit ton of metal. I'm in the Seattle area. Well hot damn, that is mighty generous of you. My short term is project filled but as Fall sets in I will have to hit you up!I work at an HVAC company with a plasma table, air shear, cross break, etc... And a metric shit ton of metal. Sounds like you need to upgrade to making your Javelin out of aluminum.(Don't use steel it rusts to damn easy several ships on the waterfront that can attest to that)Well hot damn, that is mighty generous of you. My short term is project filled but as Fall sets in I will have to hit you up!
So part of my training soon is "THE WELDING PACKAGE" dun dun dun...
And I'm proficient with welding a bit. I know how to cut aluminium in half and really frick up a pump.
Anyways.
My journeyman guy says "Oh hey boo dat pack had time eh ewe meal being fur da tsst at a elephooont or what ever soaks your boat eh." He's from New Found Land, Canada.
And I said, "Pardon Good Man but whatever elaboration did you just bequeath?".
And he said "Outta dis world fun boi! Make what chooooo wanna eh. I mag my mum un Exang."
I said "Huh?"
"AN XANG! STAR WEMMMURS BOI! LUKE SKYWALKERS ZWING!"
And I said "You made AN XING?"
"BOY SUNDER JESUS BOI I MADE A GOD DAMN X WANNNG".
"HOOKY JIMMY NEWTON! YOU MADE AN X-WING!"
"YEAH BY AND U CUN TOO BUY!"
So I need someone with welding experience to give me a diagram of how to weld together an Aurora.
I have sheet stainless steel, but no aluminum. Galvanized steel is the easiest, since it's cheap and I can supply a variety of gauges (26-20). If galvanized is used, there a variety of protectants (most notably paint) that would be effective, provided the models are not used as snorkeling companions. Stainless steel and aluminum would be prettier and water resistant, but they are harder to weld. SS is also harder to cut. Without knowing @RiceMaiden 's level of skill, I would recommend the Galvanized for the first few attempts.Sounds like you need to upgrade to making your Javelin out of aluminum.(Don't use steel it rusts to damn easy several ships on the waterfront that can attest to that)
the galvanized coating gives off poisonous fumes when you weld it or cut it with a torch...Galvanized steel is the easiest, since it's cheap and I can supply a variety of gauges (26-20)...
Mike do you know if he can electrostatically plate it with nickel if he uses galvanized steel? Id have to do some extensive research but I think the metals should be very compatible and it could make it more beautiful than with just galvanized as galvanized is not easy to paint unless you powder coat it.I have sheet stainless steel, but no aluminum.
