CIG has raised the prices quite drastically. . . . I would really like to know - from the bottom of my heart - what the f*ck CIG is thinking when they are making such changes to price and - foremost - strategy..?
You got a break for buying early. The prices should go up. The earlier you commit to anything, the more you should save. Those guys who put pennies down years ago should have something more than bragging rights, and our thanks for that.

Yes, taking out non-orbital things will be a challenge, but as I recall, triggering a nuclear weapon as an EMP high in the atmosphere would allow its effects to be dispersed over a much larger area. So you can definitely cause a lot of people around majorly populated planets to become thirsty patrons of TEST brand space booze. Also, if the planet is like Earth magnetically speaking, doing so might look beautiful while it destroys the technology in its wake. Which means that you might turn your Ambergris into the ultimate Aurora of destruction.
That... thats beautiful, man.

CIG has raised the prices quite drastically. Example: my Hull C has a melt value of 185$.....
And even the Hull E, which is even not in production, has been raised a 100 bucks - AND is limited now AND is not meant to CCU to.
These are the moments when I would really like to know - from the bottom of my heart - what the f*ck CIG is thinking when they are making such changes to price and - foremost - strategy..?
So long tedious post short - because the reward you get in return for your donation has no correlation with the amount you donate, and it is up to CIG what reward is offered for that amount of money.

Is a Drake Dragonfly worth more than an Aurora LN? Hell no, it's terribly lmiited in comparison. But it is in the Pledge Store.

CIG could, for instance, introduce a $1400 package which contains 70 Aurora ES ships. Technically speaking whats the difference between this and the Kracken at $1400? The same amount of dolla goes in the development pot, it's just the reward that's different. It is CIG who offeres what you get as a reward for what ammount, you choose the amount you would like to donate and take the reward for doing so from the available options - there are many ships at the same or similar pledge amount.

Yes, those options change over time at the will of CIG, not the backers, lead by forces such as Balance, Artificial Scarcity, even Lore in the game: Did you know for every ten 300 series produced only one is a 350R? They are trying to keep those figures true to Lore and the 350R only becomes available infrequently. If the Hull C was still available for $185 80% of backers would get one and they would have to stop any NPC's from having them. Considering the C is supposed to be basically the supply chain of the empire, that would kill the economy in the final game as not all players are going to be flying their Hull C's all the time... or be online all the time...

And ultimately, if you want to donate $1400, no one is stopping you from buying 70 Auroras. That's an option.

And that's the way 'BobFace sees it 😉

AMENDMENT - I do have a relocation that CIG has said ship-sales will end at the end of Beta, and that the Pledge Store will become less and less viable as we get that point - they want you to playing, not paying, but I can't find any evidence of this so can't put this in the main post

Also, not that I haven't allready spent to much money... But the Crusader is comming up, and I'm struggling not to get a bit of a boner over the A2Hercules - any thoughts on that ship? Will it be worth the money I'll expect it to cost, and could we use it? I already have large ships (Polaris and CarracK), and am on the one hand liking the idea of bombing the living bejezus out of semi-sentient species (or rival Orgs) and on the other hand already having spent a lot of money and owning a few crew-heavy ships...

When that day comes in 2068 we can spend that money on PC upgrades and flight control systems.

Even if this does happen, I suspect old ships won't be sold but new concepts will still be offered. This follows the same reasoning as LTI, which was supposed to never be available again, but is available for any new concept ships.

Thanks for the explanation. I haven't seen this argument, but it makes sense. Maybe too many players now own the Hull E, so CIG was forced to limit it - according to the lore - and to not allow CCUs anymore.

What is your combat fighting style like? Do oyu like to dance around and avoid incoming, joust, or just point and shoot until something dies?

Haha prolly a point and shoot at this point, I don't think I will ever be competitive at dog fighting I just don't have the time, equipment and experience with simulators but I feel over time I would be average or slightly higher I also want to be more of a fleet or group type of player, I will not be one of those guys who goes out and tries to 1vs1 other people I am just not that type of player so any single player support ship interests me.

You did a great job condensing a lot of info in your post.

The other aspect I would point out is also, (on top of the "early backers got a deal because they faced the most risk," etc. & "the economy depends on Hull-C's working," etc., and "scarcity: for every ten 300 series, only 1 is a 350r") that game balance is also thrown off if a large group of players has access to the most profitable ships right at the start of the game. This basically would mean that a significant minority of players (a large number of early backers) would not only get rich early on, but keep on getting richer faster and faster & monopolize most of the wealth in the game very early on. This would leave the vast number of new players who just got into the game with their Aurora or Mustang package poor in comparison, and they would likely never, ever be able to catch up to the wealthy players.

That Hercules is one appealing ship, the A2 more so, how would it fare as a cargo hauler for the C2?
There has only been a few ships for me that made me drool, the 600I and Hercules were 2 of them, I don't really know the capabilities of these ships yet I have read the brochure and watched a few videos but I just could not pass it up, it requires a small crew has great armament and shields and can haul a buttload of stuff that was enough for me.
