I really love this ship. It is just too big for me. (I'm actually still tempted. Maybe one day we will get a smaller ship which can do something similar. (Or gimme a mine layer module for my caterpillar)
I think the idea behind it is to set up a trap and then shoot the big guns on what the small guns can't take.Compared to an alpha strike ship like a hammerhead and Polaris this seems to me overpriced for its perceived functionality or lack there of. The only thing I'm confused about is the forward facing S7 twin guns and the fact that all its turrets are manned. I would think that this ship would stealthily lay mines somewhere and leave. Should it encounter hostiles, I highly doubt the enemy will line up in front to get hit by the S7's. The Polaris in comparison has front facing twin S5 and its powered by a capital powerplant.
Suddenly the Hercules seems a far better buy.
Considering Nautilus have 5/6 the DPS of an Hammerhead and 80% of that damage is from a STS turret, I think saying HH have more alpha strike than Nautilus is underestimating the Nautilus too much.Compared to an alpha strike ship like a hammerhead and Polaris this seems to me overpriced for its perceived functionality or lack there of. Well, we had a live Q&A after they finished showing off the ship, there was a 3D rendering crash to desktop (typical CIG haha) but most of the other hype points have been stated here i think. If you have any specific questions about the ship, feel free to bug me here or in discord! That's interesting, can you share any specific hype?
I'm traveling, and all I can see has me going "Meh...a minesweeper/layer?"
(It doesn't help that one of my best friends was on a minesweeper, ha ha...)
No I demand a full and detailed report!Well, we had a live Q&A after they finished showing off the ship, there was a 3D rendering crash to desktop (typical CIG haha) but most of the other hype points have been stated here i think. If you have any specific questions about the ship, feel free to bug me here or in discord!
Not wishing to melt? Maybe we could purchase a cheap CCU from Hammerhead today if we are lucky so you climb your way up with time (and $)Looks fun but way too expensive for me. I'll just have to use my Terrapin and Carrack to offer mine detection and mapping services for you guys instead. :)
Bug you!Well, we had a live Q&A after they finished showing off the ship, there was a 3D rendering crash to desktop (typical CIG haha) but most of the other hype points have been stated here i think. If you have any specific questions about the ship, feel free to bug me here or in discord!
Release is "SOON", there was absolutely no mention of SQ42. Concepting the ship took place from February until June. It is about 90% complete as they are currently working on lighting passes inside the ship, which means its almost completely done according to the vehicle pipeline and its director.Bug you!
BTW please, did you know something about possible release? Or if it is an SQ42 asset?
I like my hammerhead! Not CCUing that!!Not wishing to melt? Maybe we could purchase a cheap CCU from Hammerhead today if we are lucky so you climb your way up with time (and $)

This might be nice with some kind of QD interdictor or to setup other traps (jump points?).
so with all my paint skill and my lack of interest in doing something sustainable out of pure speculation, i made this.

(you can make pew pew noises and "OMG we are fucked" screams at the appropriate time)
My question about the presentation is simple, what part of it did you enjoy most?Well, we had a live Q&A after they finished showing off the ship, there was a 3D rendering crash to desktop (typical CIG haha) but most of the other hype points have been stated here i think. It doesnt have 5/6 of the dps of a Hammerhead, go do your sums agan.Considering Nautilus have 5/6 the DPS of an Hammerhead and 80% of that damage is from a STS turret, I think saying HH have more alpha strike than Nautilus is underestimating the Nautilus too much.
The enemies who are slow will be attacked with the S7, the rest with the two quad S3 turrets plus the missile turret + 4 sentry guns or mines you can lay at the same time around you.
Additionally, S7 weapons have much more range than smaller sized weapons as the Hammerhead ones.
Of the presentation, probably when they showed the technical interiors of the 3 levels which gave the ship proper scale. That and the 2 types of mines + drone.I might be alone in this, but I'm hoping that eventually, CIG will also create some sort of a stealthy mine that will be difficult even for a Terrapin or a Carrack to detect before they are detected by it, that's sole purpose would be to alert those that deployed it of movement in its area & if possible what it is that is moving or being detected. Basically an early warning system to extend the range for a base or fleet beyond the individual ship's / base's range without them.
My question about the presentation is simple, what part of it did you enjoy most?
Ofc you just need to think in 3dDoes this situation assume that the target ship cannot fly either up or down and has no shields?
