No politics here. Keep it away. This is merely to note what happened in Caracas, because the reports from survivors really make it sound like Delta is bringing new gear to battle. Some would have thought it future gear.

“Security Guard: On the day of the operation, we didn't hear anything coming. We were on guard, but suddenly all our radar systems shut down without any explanation. The next thing we saw were drones, a lot of drones, flying over our positions. We didn't know how to react.

Interviewer: So what happened next? How was the main attack?

Security Guard: After those drones appeared, some helicopters arrived, but there were very few. I think barely eight helicopters. From those helicopters, soldiers came down, but a very small number. Maybe twenty men. But those men were technologically very advanced. They didn't look like anything we've fought against before.

Interviewer: And then the battle began?

Security Guard: Yes, but it was a massacre. We were hundreds, but we had no chance. They were shooting with such precision and speed. . .We couldn't do anything.

Interviewer: And your own weapons? Didn't they help?

Security Guard: No help at all. Because it wasn't just the weapons. At one point, they launched something—I don't know how to describe it... it was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move.

Interviewer: And your comrades? Did they manage to resist?

Security Guard: No, not at all. Those twenty men, without a single casualty, killed hundreds of us. We had no way to compete with their technology, with their weapons. I swear, I've never seen anything like it. We couldn't even stand up after that sonic weapon or whatever it was.

Interviewer: So do you think the rest of the region should think twice before confronting the Americans?

Security Guard: Without a doubt. I'm sending a warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States. They have no idea what they're capable of. After what I saw, I never want to be on the other side of that again. They're not to be messed with.

Interviewer: And now that Trump has said Mexico is on the list, do you think the situation will change in Latin America?

Security Guard: Definitely. Everyone is already talking about this. No one wants to go through what we went through. Now everyone thinks twice. What happened here is going to change a lot of things, not just in Venezuela but throughout the region.

To be able to better discuss, can you provide a source for that security guard interview? Just want to see it and the original context/confirm the interview happened, it could just be fiction otherwise. I did an online search but all the responses I've had are litterally 1 day old and for random websites called 'Milspectatticalinsider.biz" and stuff so would be nice to know which jernolist got the original interview.

I think I got it from Congressman John Fetterman’s Facebook page, but that is not much a sign of authenticity. There are a lot of people who post there. I think we’ll need to wait on verification. This has gone viral. The original post seems to have been on X, and is being circulated by everyone from The New York Post to The Times of India.

The things that surprised me were:

A) they reportedly look different. My guess is some next gen body armor. A team like this probably were not carrying packs, which in itself would tend to make them look different, and Delta would dress in black at night, but I would expect next gen body armor. The Army has been experimenting with high density plastics for some time. Extensive body armor could explain the lack of casualties. The Americans didn’t even have wounded.

As an aside, the reason the Army recently chose a shitty rifle with 20 round mags for their next battle rifle is they want to be able to shoot through body armor. Here’s hoping they will relent from all the bad feedback they’ve had. The Desert Tech Sabertooth in 6 Max is really what they need. It has 60 round quad stack mags and in 6 Max can defeat body armor at hundreds of meters.

b) The speed they were shooting at sounds surprising. An M4 fires around 750 rounds per minute. That’s not super high. A Mac 11 fires around 1200 rpm. Could be they were carrying submachine guns instead of assault rifles. Doubtful though. Submachine guns are anything but “precise.” That would be a surprise but I’ve no idea the distances they were shooting. Could also be they have access to assault guns with unusually high rate of fire, but this is very doubtful. I track such developments and nothing like that is on my radar. There was a rifle at the end of the Cold War that could explain this oddity. The Heckler&Koch G11 was a caseless ammo rifle that was abandoned just before it was perfected. Maybe DARPA put it into some weird production and just Delta has it? That was a real assault rifle with a 2100 rpm rate of fire. Truly shocking. In burst mode it fired 5 rounds so fast the rifle did not have time to recoil off target. Amazing piece of German engineering.

c) The weapon that knocked them all down sounds like microwave to me. Those are big weapons with huge power requirements, perhaps attached to the choppers. They’re relatively short range, wide dispersion angle fixed by a flat panel, unless progress has them using a dielectric resonator antenna with lower power requirements and more directionality. In any case it sounds kick-ass. I did a thesis in philosophy of technology back in 1993 on future, non-lethal weapons that was exactly this kind of stuff. With these symptoms however, I’m not sure whatever it was, was precisely “non-lethal”.

I think his pondering over how the cartels will think about this are suspect. Much of Latin culture is reliant upon machismo. It does not seem in the nature of a cartel to long consider what they are up against. That’s too bad really.

I'm looking forward to verification, at the moment it looks like a whole lot of 3rd party accounts with no first party claiming it's their story which just feels a bit weird.

It's difficult to know what could have caused those injuries without the full context, my assumption initially from the description about some form of sonic weapon was a simple high-powered flash-bang (I used to know a dude who manurefactured a version for police forces along with other stuff like practival movie VFX and he set one off in a skip (dumpster) and although most os the sound was channeled upward man the ringing in my ears afterwards!) but if the defenders were in a courtyard or other open area it could have been some form of percussive air dropped ordenance which burst over the area which can cause big injuries if it's channeled into an area like a cave or intallation, too. Thinking a smaller version of a Daisy Cutter or something...? I have no expiriance and know nothing about firearms so can't comment on those.

I'll probably be prooved wrong in the fullness of time with the report being confirmed, but until then I'd lean toward conventional arms being responsible as the simpler explanation.

This is not a real mystery, especially now (roughly 10 years following the research). These are the symptoms of having been exposed to infrasound, very loud but low frequency sound waves - below the human ability to hear. This would effect everyone in the vicinity of the soundwaves with the same symptoms as described.
It could also be ultrasound, but that has diminishing returns as older adults may not be able to detect them, but children and younger adults could - it has similar symptoms other than the nose bleeds that infrasound has.

I got questions about the G11 in another forum, so just to be clear: the G11 was abandoned because the Cold War ended and the appetite for a new battle rifle and the funding that entails just dried up.

US Army had put out this specification of extra ordinary rate of fire because they presumed one way to make more marksman hit was to fire 3 round bursts very fast. The G11 did this in spades. (The Gallant and Lumin V are hat tipping.) It was a caseless ammo rifle—no casing to eject. The propellant was formed into a hard rectangular block attached to the projectile, and the rifle stored these vertically, pointed downward along and above the barrel. This gave it a very large magazine (90rds), and moved the center of impulse down on the shoulder which reduced muzzle flip. It is a Bullpup, which made it shorter and easier to handle than normal rifles, yet it had a long (21”) barrel that boosted projectiles to almost 1km/s. The ammo weighed less because there was no brass casing.

H&K had troubles stopping the ammo from “cooking off” or igniting prematurely from the heat of the barrel, so when the Cold War ended the Army just let it go and H&K solved the cook off unfunded, just a couple months later. Three decades later we are still using six decade old battle rifles.

The ideas behind the G11 from both the Army and H&K were all brilliant. It is arguably still the most advanced combat rifle ever built. I think H&K has a couple in their lockup. I’m kinda shocked they didn’t take another poke at it during the Army’s latest competition. It does match the description of soldiers shooting with great speed and precision. Normally you get one or the other. The G11 delivered both.
