WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
WALL OF TEXT INCOMING!
ALL HANDS, BRACE FOR IMPACT!
Did someone bring up naming their ships? Because I love talking about ship names.
I'm lazy so I just pulled the list out of my profile. No indication of chronology or sorting here.
RSI Constellation Phoenix -
Capitalist Swine
The only way I could get more luxurious is if I stole an Idris and filled the hangar deck with champagne. The name reflects the decadent lifestyle I hope to lead whenever this baby leaves port. And seeing as this is likely to be one of my main ships, I plan to be comfortable while I do so.
Aegis Sabre -
Sting
This ship was at one point a Gladius, so I named it
Sting as a (not-terribly) clever play on words. The ship's been CCU'd multiple times, from a Aurora LN, to a 325a, to a Gladius, to its final form of a Sabre.
Origin M50 -
My Ex's Mood
What's fragile, expensive, and prone to changing direction on a moment's notice?
RSI Aurora LX -
Pocket Party
Perfect for when I want to to live just a little bit luxuriously. It's like pocket-sized party! I'm still waiting to see if we can fit a minifridge or a kegerator in here, though...
MISC Freelancer DUR -
Walkabout
Ah, the exploration ship for when I want to explore, and I want more range than the Mustang Beta, but I don't really want to have to deal with other people. Going walkabout seems like a good description of that.
Aegis Reclaimer -
Afterparty
The real fun doesn't start til the afterparty. After massive engagements for the honor of Glorious Leader, cleaning up the scraps of crashed Auroras will no doubt be a profitable endeavor. Not to be confused with an actual Endeavor.
Drake Herald -
TEST Party Van
It's five months later and I still haven't replaced that name. I'll probably just fly around blasting
this during fleet engagements., assuming I'm not piloting my bomber.
Banu Merchantman -
Disembodied Screaming of Wallets
Originally named during one of the anniversary sales. Also follows the Ob'enn naming conventions, if anyone else reads
Schlock Mercenary.
Origin 350r -
Intermittent Oversteer
I'll be honest, I haven't even taken the 350r out for a spin in quite a while. I'm assuming that it's still a hot mess on the handling, but fastest thing in space on the straights.
Aegis Retaliator -
Poor Life Choices
I still love this name above all others. It was a dumb purchase when I bought it (had to budget for a while afterwards... hello ramen and PB sandwiches!). It'll make enemy capital ship drivers reflect on their bad decisions as they run for their escape pods as several gigatons of high-energy annihilate their pride and joy, leaving only shame and misery. And when I lose it doing something boneheaded, it's once again a reminder to me to think my actions through. But, it's got LTI, so small chance of that happening.
Anvil Carrack -
Eagleheart
Going beyond the horizon, flying into a new world and immediately finding the sun (so I can crash into it)? Sounds like a perfect name for my main explorer!
MISC Freelancer MIS -
Last Call
This one's actually had a rename since the last time I went round this carousel. It's a phrase specifically designed to strike fear in the hearts of those who hear it.
MISC Starfarer Gemini -
Beer Spirit Toll
Courtesy of
@Black Sunder, this is an anagram of "terrible pilots". Thus, if you wish to fuel up, you must pay the
Beer Spirit Toll.
Consolidated Outland Mustang β -
The Bang 'Stang
I love the rhyming name, and as the only Mustang with sleeping quarters in the back, it's the only one you can take a sweet honey back to after a night of CityBoppin. It's up to you to provide the ice after they steal your kidneys, though.
RSI Aurora LN -
TEST Aurora 934
My Aurora for fleet operations. One Aurora is pretty much the same as the other while blomping.
Aegis Vanguard -
Troublemaker
I named this one after a drink I made from high-proof rum, apple cider, cinnamon and rum. I didn't realize how drunk I was until I tried to stand up and fell over, and had to go to work less than 6 hours later. In much the same way, when you notice this ship, you're already in trouble.
MISC Hull B -
Tastes of Lutefisk
I had to look back to see what I was thinking when I named this one. Unfortunately, I have no more clue now why I named it than I did five months ago.
MISC Reliant Sen -
Bring Me The Heart Of Steve Irwin
The Reliant looks a little stingray-ish, and I have an affection for overly-long ship names.
MISC Endeavor (Hope-class) -
Montoya's Anatomy
This is the hospital variant of the Endeavor... Grey's Anatomy is a TV show about a hospital... I just changed the name to a far more interesting and relevant topic.
Aegis Crucible -
Clarkson's Hammer
Named for the favored tool of the famous toll from
Top Gear, it'll help me repair anything that gets broke. How hard could it be?
Drake Caterpillar -
Bad Impulse Control
I'm still not used to having this one. I really was planning on having a Caterpillar as an end goal ship in the 'verse. But the speculation about a probable price increase got to me, and well, here we are. Named in much the same vein as
Poor Life Choices.
MISC Prospector -
Git Rokt
The name came to me right after I bought it. I thought it worked.
What's that? You didn't need an explanation behind every single ship in my fleet?
