It is dependent on whether this is a new PTU number, but not letter. For example, if you end up doing a 3.0 PTU or 4.0 PTU in the future, you're probably going to have to sort out the settings. If it is going up as a letter, maybe not.

You need a fighter if you want to be a fighter pilot. If not, you do not unless you want to be able to protect your ship with fighters. The Andromeda should come with a fighter as standard for reference.

I've heard there are three episodes of about 72 missions each. By comparison, how missions are in a usual basic mission pack or expansion pack for a game these days? I hope this is all accessible at least from the package that came with the pre-2016 packages for Star Citizen.
