I'm thinking i will stick with my Cutlass. Sadly not the Red i have in my hangar, but the Black will do
I'll probably REC something nice to fly from time to time.

Edit: I just read the later posts, I hope all turns out well for you mate. Sad to hear about these things happening.

Y'all have provided me a grand amount of food for thought.

So here's the thing, for those of you not tracking:
Our house flooded with raw sewage a little while ago. Insurance refuses to cover the clean up and repair, as it was caused by a cracked foundation. So we had to tear out all the flooring, bottom two feet of all the drywall, repair the house foundation, and rebuild our basement, all at out own expense.

Not too bad, but it has tapped up pretty close to dry. So I've asked CIG to refund my fleet to cover the cost. They said yes, God bless them. :yellow_heart::black_heart:

I'm starting at ground zero for my fleet. :disappointed_relieved:That's why I've been looking to buy an LTI game package, and that's why I'm looking to ascertain what ship to start the game with.

So the ulterior and not so secret motive of this thread is revealed. :spy:

So thank y'all for your input. I'll be seriously looking at how I want to move forward with funding of this amazing game. For now it'll be get a package
/ship or two (once the refund is complete) so I can play 3.0, and rebuild slowly, once the household is taken care of.
Hey Owl, i am so sorry to hear what happened mate. But don't worry, we are a big community and everyone will help you, including me. So you'll get back to your feets!

Add me to the list of people saddened to hear of your house problems. I had a similar incidence about ten years back. Sewage line got blocked by tree roots outside and backed up into the basement via a floor drain. We got about four inches total but carpet and paneling had to be replaced. We got insurance to pay after a week or two of arguing. We had what I thought would've been needless flood insurance, but insurance company said sewerage back up is not the same. They gave in after we were ready to cancel home owners, car and life insurance policies to switch with their #1 competition. But the hassle got my Irish up big time. I hope all works out for you my friend.

Any way I have a second account to start from scratch in the game. I plan on using a Dur. For me me it has some storage to haul and large fuel tanks, so longer trips are ok. It'll still make it thru small jump points and can explore for more variety. My main @hardroc77 account, I'll use for Org stuff and just general play.

Oh, btw, if you see me online, speak up. You have access to any ship in my hangar. Always!
Let us know what you get, though.

Sad to hear that.

My current list is
Freelancer < Cutlass Black < DUR

If I had to start out alpha3.0 with a less than $150 ship, I'd want the Aurora so I can put a box on it and run cargo. And I won't be heretical to TEST Squadtron.

If the question was starting out the live release of SC, I'd say the Mustang Beta. I got to mess around in one of those for a bit and it was like, "OH MAN! Look at this set up! This is my perfect living-in-a-van-down-by-the-river mobile!" The problem, Betas don't carry cargo and there is no exploration, really, in alpha3.0.

BEST SHIP END OF STORY
Australian White Ibis, or so the interwebs tell me. Can I fly one of these in space? And more important than flying: does it have a beer cooler?

Hmmmmm, I never thought about that. Good thinking. You must be a SPAI.
What sort of exclusion clause could be in an insurance contract to make cracked foundations an excuse to not pay? I am mystified.
It's a quick of Canadian insurance. As a cracked foundation is considered a maintenance issue. It's fucked. What's more fucked is that the home inspector missed it when we bought the place, and the previous owners didn't disclose that they'd had flooding a couple years ago caused by the exact same issue.

I look at that list and I see only 3 ships: cutlass, freelancer, and Taurus.

All 3 of them are 1-3 crew ships. All 3 can be flown with just 1 person but only 2 of them can benefit from slaved turrets. All 3 benefit from AI turrets....

If we look at all the ships with gimballs, then we have the Cutlass with 4x S2, the Freelancer with 4x S3, and the Taurus at 4x S4. As the guns get bigger, the ship gets slower. The Taurus has twice the shielding of the other two.

If we look at cargo, the Taurus wins by a large margin. Much more space but can also carry Cyclones, Ursas, and bikes. If you are going to make money from stealing, THIS is the ship to bring. The Cutlass can take bikes right from the start while the Freelancer needs upgrades.

Personally I love the Cutlass the most because Cutlass. The real question is going to be what OTHER ships you'll have. If you'll eventually get a Caterpillar, then the Taurus would be redundant. If you'll eventually get a hornet, then the Cutlass may not see as many fights.

The Freelancer is probably the best at flying drunk since it can probably get automated turrets on the cheeks.

I'l stick with a Cutlass but make it a Blue. Just grab a Black and wait for the extra details. The Blue will probably always be $50 more than the Black and any price increase on one will compliment the other.

Get Cutlass now, then get a Caterpillar for Christmas, then a Crucible for your birthday :)

yeah still no blank vote on that one... or veto for that matter..
It depends on what the question you are voting on is.

If you want a Veto on the ultimate poll, you must ask it as a question: "Can I veto on the Ultimate Poll?" the answer is "Yes" because you can choose to abstain from voting, but by voting "Yes" you also have to vote "No" because you have voted, this is available as an option as it is a multi-choice poll. If you are unsure as to if you can veto or not, choose "Maybe". In doing this you can also vote "No" for the reasons above. You can also come back later and change your vote if you change your mind.

It's the forums Ultimate Poll, there is no room for ignorance when it actually does have all the answers - why get over specific when Yes, No or Maybe are all you need, especially when taken all at once.

The ships page lists all Mustangs as able to carry 10 cargo units. You're telling me that is wrong too? How could they get that wrong? Does it have a bed? Is ANYTHING right on the ships page?

Yes, all of the ships have their name spelled correctly on the ships page. All other stats could be wrong since they were changed but never updated.
