They keep moving and changing what "done" means.

I am familiar with Agile. We used it. There has been lots of misrepresentations of what agile is, though, primarily, not from CIG. The problem I have, with regards to progress, is the project has no end goals clearly defined. That has nothing to do with Agile. What a "minimum viable product"...

Star Citizen Fatigue, featuring Richard Bong :D

I was called an impolite name and told that if I am so knowledgeable I should have a game out. That response was strictly to that. With my experience in software development and other projects I have lead, or been part of, I have seen the difference between what happens to a project with a...

I have neither the time nor the money. Give me 250 million and I'll have it out in 5 years or less (Which would beat CIG to market.) without needing more money before release.

ROFLMAO! Thanks fearless leader. You can't measure progress unless you have an end state defined. CIG has done work, that is indisputable. But no measurable progress. If you go 5 miles on a treadmill every day, it is good for your health, but if your goal is to get to the store 5 miles away...

I'm looking. I'll let you know once I figure out what software to use and get it set up.

Traveller has a unique perspective, you don't start as some kid, fresh off the moisture farm, though you can. typically you start as a veteran, with 16 to 20 years experience. Weapons tend to be very deadly as you'd expect, with a reliance on melee weapons for shipboard use (you don't really...

There is a class of software, I'm currently looking for the better current examples, designed to allow that tabletop experience through the Internet.

A bit deadlier, in fact it was the only RPG where you can die during character creation. :) It is a similar idea, and one version of the game is based on the D20 rules. But, yes, it can be pretty fun.

A released game is stable, Star Citizen is not. At best, Star Citizen is a screenshot generator.

I have the classic rules, most of the MegaTraveller rules, the T20 rules, some TNE material, some GURPS material. Of the rules since the original, I like the T20 version since it is very compatible with the original material, without the loopholes the original has. (And those are many. :) )

The modeling, which I'll break down some of the more common tasks required. Building terrain, plants, props, etc. isn't supposed to be done in engine. It is done in software, like Carrara, 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, Blender, etc. You may do your UV mapping in the modeling software or a...

Any modeler can build bases, in fact IIRC they use 3DS Max for that. Carrara has the terrain and plant tools (Yes Carrara also has a passable modeler for things like bases, but Max does that better.), and Astrosynthesis plus Fractal Terrains builds the systems. Making the engine support the...

I wouldn't mind if they built their own terrain generation tech, if they actually managed to finish most of the systems by now.

That is part of being done. For me polish is tweeking shaders, adjust things like rivers that don't flow correctly, etc. Carrara does better trees and plants, and has a more complete tool set. Vue integrates better with other 3D graphics software, but requires you are mixing your render engine...

Don't get me started on the avatar system. :) I've no idea if anyone is. The licensing doesn't require recognition. I would suspect ED is using part of the workflow. They turned out a lot of systems in a very short period of time. I've seen demos with both Unity and Unreal of the Carrara...
