I, too, worry a bit about the maneuverability. BUT, If I play my cards right and focus my upgrades along a Shield+Engines route (as well as keep a habit of flying light) I'm hoping that I will be able to build something that has juuuust enough surprise umph to catch would-be attackers off guard...
