Hi Everybody,

I'm looking for opinions. My strength has never been in marketing and so when I dreamed up the name "The Game Channel" it was honestly due to lack of inspiration. There are plenty of gaming channels out there that do not incorporate the word "Game" into them but they're catchy and people recognize them.

So with that I'm looking for ideas. The channel is still small enough that I could re-brand with minimum impact, the big question is... what do I call it?

My overall goal is to make this my second profitable YouTube channel, the majority of the content for the foreseeable future will be game-play video with TEST Squadron / Gaming. I plan to start doing on-camera videos similar to Montoya's format as well discussing and / or reviewing games. As I get my self comfortable and familiar with that process I plan to post videos like this at a fair level of frequency.

Due to lack of availability of The Game Channel name, my Twitch channel is called "LoicFarris" but I use the TGC branding.

Do I call the YouTube channel LoicFarris? Do I leave it as is despite there being other channels with this same name, or do I come up with something else?

It really all depends upon you wanting to make your gamertag LoicFarris your actual brand or not.

Personally I feel its probably easier if you are the only person submitting content to your channel. If you had a team or multiple people putting up videos, then TGC works.

If its only LoicFarris contributing content, then that works fine as the brand.

I would say if you have a lot of resources invested in The Game Channel it may be worth perceiving with it or working out what it is worth and if thats worth letting go of... for instance, if you have a URL with "The Game Channel" in it, that's going to be worth a fair bit to you to let go without some fore-thought.

If no real resources invested and it's totally fluid, consider the audience you want to speak to and what you may want to do further down the line...

Some big name youtubers started with Minecraft, for instance, but then as their viewership and audience expanded they branched out in to other games and types of video partly to speak to wider audiances and partly because after 2000 minecraft videos you could get hella bored of that kind of thing. Of course they can and have opened up second channels specifically for some types of video like Vlogging, but if their user name is specifically "Minecraft Crazy Steve" (not a real youtuber) then they have an issue when they start talking about Star Wars Galaxy, Sam And Max Hit The Road or doing Life Tip videos on how to fill in your tax returns.

Yep, it's just me making content with no real plans to expand beyond that as far as content generators go. I don't know to be honest if LoicFarris is a brand that I'd be sold on using. It's just a gamer-tag that I've used for 20 years. That said, I'm not sure where you got "Montoya" from, but I like the name and I associate it with your gamer tag and channel. LoicFarris is two names mushed into one word basically.

So far there are no resources invested into this brand, no merchandise, no URLs, just the YouTube page and an Instagram account that can easily be modified. I don't want to be stuck on one single game with the title as you mentioned above. This channel is strictly for gaming, we already have a family vlog that is monitized. We do separate channels based on the type of content.

'LoicFarris' Bedtime Stories'
Technically speaking it's always bed time... depending on where on the planet you are... if you got on a very fast jet plane or lived on a geosynchronous satellite, you could chase dusk and keep pace with it - it would always be bed time...

So I'm thinking about just going with "Loic Farris" for the channel name, the overall name being Loic Farris Gaming, then the icon would change from TGC to LFG.

Thoughts? It's a take off of what others day using the handle as the brand.
