From the way the previous ship prices were posted on the thread, 850 should be the standard credits usable price, with the warbond price released during the sale. Both should be limited in numbers according to previous releases.
Sucks that they are still playing the 'limited release' game though.

I'm shooting for one for us. Limited quantities means we need some for TEST Squadron.

If it really does let us build outposts, then we'll need as many as we can to erect a giant penis shaped community on the moon for the glory of @Montoya!

That and the benefit of leaving TEST safe houses everywhere is stellar.

16k: Resolution of 132 Megapixels.

Human Eye: Resolution of 576 megapixels.
https://www.google.co.uk/search?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&q=how+many+megapizels+is+the+human+eye&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gfe_rd=cr&dcr=0&ei=8JbpWbTxOJLH8Ae3wYbQCA

They still have a way to go yet, however consider the following:

Remember in the 90's when computer monitors were sold based on how many colours they can display? 2, 4, 6, 32, 64, 1,600, 16 thousand, 32 thousand, 320 thousand, 720 thousand, one mIllion, 16 million, 32 million... and then it pretty much stopped.

The Human Eye can see between 7 million and 10 million colours. Unless the 16 million colour screen missed out some of the visible spectrum, what was the point of the 32 million? And recently a TV came out which could display billions. They advertised it as such, and no many people appeared to gave a damn.

Unless they skip some of the visible spectrum, when screens get to 576 megapixels it will become just as standard and just as unnoticed as the hundreds of millions of colour screen you are probably viewing right now.

All just advertising, buy the next great thing. Jaded? Me? My phone screen is VGA.
Well fuck me running. You learn something new everyday. Thanks my friend.

The eye have almost no limit to how many shades of color variation it can see this is made up BS by non scientific schooled person...

1st a Example to explain this: if you take only Green from the absolute darkest green that is almost black but still green to the lightest that is almost white the human eye can see the hole color shade. Now present it as long color shade green line from darkest to brightest green, then divide that line in 10 million parts and you have 10 million shades of green and the human eye can see all of them...
Now do same with all other colors then start mixing them to blended variations of color shades and you have a infinite amount of variations way beyond billion of color shades and human eye can still see them all.

Comparing the eye to a camera or monitor as it is so often done is a flawed way and not accurate at all, the eye have similarities with a camera yes but it does not work like one at all not even close by a long shoot.

This is something that is made up to simplify the explanation how a human eye work but it is so far from the real truth and extremely complicated way a human eye work and it have no real scientific value or truth what so ever.

Sadly this have been picked up by manufacturer of TV, Cameras and screens etc.. for various products as a selling argument to make it sound more elaborate and fantastic to sell their product to you as customer from long before TV was a normal thing in every home.

There is no more truth in the common eye comparison so often made then to the scientific lab guys in white lab coats you see in commercials for various products that supposed to verify that it's a good product. To make you want to buy it and feel like it is a great product as it have scientifically been proven. Yeah! right if you say so!

Yes the human eye have a spectrum range limit, that is not a color shade limit which is something totally different and there is a limit in shades we can see to but this varies a lot from eye to eye and is dependent on the individuals gen inheritance. Either way it is still beyond billions shades of colors a human eye can see for most healthy eyes that is. No one have yet got a 100% accurate value for how many shades color it actually is a human eye can see and spectrum range is not same as shades of color. This is also often used very wrong in same sentence as facts when it so far from truth it is hilarious but we come to accept it as a measurement on products so we can compare and see who have the biggest dick.
...Simplified it's called human vanity.

That was my 20cents :fearful:
[SALT REMOVAL]Many thanks for your response. Now I have learned off of someone who went to a scientific school, please explain to me how Yellow works in regard to monitors.[/SALT REMOVAL]

I heard that Yellow we see on a screen is not tte same wavelength as the Yellow we see in reality from something like a Banana. Please explain.

LOOL! Was not intended as SALT at all, very sorry if you took it that way...

Eyes don't see the screen they see the light waves coming from the screen...
A screen work as a light source like the sun but with a limitation on the hardware in it how much light waves it can emit and the light wave source the screen can reproduce is the limitation of what you see on a screen not the eye it self.

A screen reproduce light waves with base light wavelength colors as in red, green, blue, light on or light off where light off is what we see as black and that is called RGB, and the base RGB wavelength color limitation of the hardware do not include yellow since that is not a base color it need to be a mix of those to reproduce a wavelength light that we see as yellow but it is actually not yellow at all.

That is a limitation of hardware light wave source not limitation of eyes that is where most confusion come from.

What the eye see is the light wave not the color it self that is what our brain take light wave information from your eye's retina and optic nerve to render the image we see from various light waves, so depending on what light waves the source can emit is the limitation on what you see.
The eye have almost unlimited divisions it can see of light waves with in our visible light spectrum, it is always the source that is the limitation on what you see not the eye it self assuming we are talking about a healthy eye.

Example: You do not see your hand or the banana or objects around you, what you see is the light waves emitting from your surrounding you can not actually see the hand or any of the surrounding it self without a light wave source and the light wavelength source is what set the rule of what you see...

And here is where you lose most people in conversation like this since this is complicated as hell....

Basically to make it as a easy explanation as possible:
Do not confuse the source limitation to emit light waves with what light waves the eye can interpret, they are not the same limitations.

CHEERS! No SALT intended at all

Yes, the whole "limited release" thing rates a big "WTF?"

Are they going to run out of pixels for our JPEG ships? Something tells me that, with a price tag of $850, they don't have to worry about manufacturing too many .jpg or .png files, lol!

and for a comment to the topic. On Bensday with Batgirl Ep.83, the question was posed about the size of the Pioneer being close to an Idris. Ben's answer was along the lines of a qualified yes, being among the larger ships designed. I cannot quote directly right now, at work and youtube is denied here.

Game changer ship...

one of the things we have noted is that (edit: short ranged fighters and other ships) will not be able to operate far from bases. Meaning there is always a need for a baby carrier, starfarer, etc to move and base smaller 1 person fighters. This could be a "mobile station" allowing pirates to refuel and repair far from a planet or established NPC enclaves. It could also be a transfer point for mining operations where it can be picked up by transports and where pilots can refuel, repair, etc.

I suspect it could move between areas, but probably can't be used as a baby (or even full sized) carrier as I would hope it would not be able to operate as a base unless the landing platforms were "deployed", but it might be able to be used as a landing platform where ships can log out safely once it has arrived at it's location. This would be good for mining orgs as well.

IFF the above is true, then it's a game changing ship. Building a base is not a game changer. Being able to use a ship as a mobile space station would definitely change it.

I am not sure if it should be able to carry ships from one place to another...

Interesting thought. I like it a lot and hope this would be the ship function. I mobile base that can be redeployed to wherever needed.

I want more information before the sale.
A $850 game changer ship with limited stock.
Need some time to think it through, before the F5 war.
If I'm not mistaking, Bored Gamer mentioned this in one of his latest videos and CIG (maybe Ben or Jared) confirmed they'll provide more information prior to the sale. This doesn't mean much, but at least they acknowledged the issue.

Just have a bunch to drink before the sale starts it makes spending the money less painful... However the hangover is so much worse. Much like all the drunk mistakes in life, you can't take them back but it probably was fun/great idea while you were drunk enough to try it.
