The Bureau of Prisons has been undefrunded for over a decade, ever since the re-org after 9/11.

The latest news is that, of the two guards, one had worked 5 overtimes *that week* and the other was on a mandatory overtime...and wasn't even a real guard, but was an ancillary staff who was mandated into the position.

If you run a jail, prison, or hospital, you know you are on your way downhill when staffing is that bad.
To be clear, I wasn't blaming the guards or warden, I neither know them personally nor the details of the prison in question; I'm stating I believe they'll be the ones punished for this even if it is determined no reasonable person in their position could've done better.
I have read that there's been a long history of complaints about the professionalism and adherence to procedure at that prison, but when anything is grossly underfunded that's to be expected.

That is a completely acceptable excuse for failing to properly guard the most high profile inmate in the nation. They couldn't find the extra hundred bucks to pay another guard for a night.
Blame the people in charge! The people running the show now have the most to gain if Epstein is dead, and the most to lose if he testified.

Because, as you know, we all think jails should be staffed like Disney World!

Yeah, it was the funding. Sure. If only they'd had a couple of twenties lying around, they could have prevented this.
We may or may not be talking about the same thing.

Yes, the DOJ and the BOP all get funded, *but* if the money is spent on things like, office furniture for AG Barr or the other big mucky-mucks, and they turn a blind eye to the people on the ground, then nobody should be shocked when they can't find enough staff on a Friday night to man the joint.

Yet, I'm sure the top people will all express "how shocked" they are at what happened, when they knew it was going on all the time, and ignored it because it was convenient.

New info is that Epstein's "Lawyers" requested he be removed from suicide watch, and that, yes, he wasn't closely monitored even during the watch.

At this point, sounds like he has a good case against his own defense attorneys... you know, if he wasn't already dead.

Let's face facts, here: Epstein had dirt on the 1% of the 1% because those particular individuals are monsters, through and through. They're above the law because they "own" the law, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that one of them simply paid an exorbitant amount to the guards, warden, and lawyers to orchestrate this "suicide".

New "news"
Apparently someone posted the death on 4chan half an hour before it was "officially" first announced on twitter by some journo. Cited cause as hanging resulting in cardiac arrest.
I won't post a link to where I heard this as we usually don't do political stuff and it's a political youtube channel.

You dont need to post a link to a video because the source is 4chan, not a youtube video.

Here:

This is obviously an EMT or some guy at the hospital... they will most likely lose their job over this.

I suspect that the Hershey's Company will eventually be filing a lawsuit against the makers of the above product given how its shape loosely resembles their Kisses product. That being said, great find @GriffinGamingRPG
I wouldn't bet a dollar on it unless my business was dependent on it, but I suspect that the shape of the hat doesn't infringe on the patent. Prior art. Google search for: ancient Persian helmet, or Kulah Khuds. https://www.google.com/search?q=Kulah+Khuds
Click images to see a bunch.

If the Tin Foil hat sellers happen to ever see your post, they will probably appreciate it enough to send you a complimentary version. Or they will send you a $1 package of aluminum foil from a dollar store, but send it C.O.D. which would end up costing you about 3x the cost.

Remind me to refuse shipment of that... One of the kids has a bad habit. We have 4 or 5 rolls of heavy duty HEB aluminum foil right now. She used them for the daycare where she works, as crafting material, but keeps forgetting. Weekend before last, I caught her eyeing rolls at Costco too.
I'd settle for the hat though... cuz things...
