tl;dr I'm gonna NKato the hell out of this.

At last count I think we had a total of 2 Javelins, maybe 3 or 4 if people are keeping them secret for later use or have just not posted about them. I will grant that having 2 of these ships is a huge thing for us given their requirements but.....we are TEST Squadron....and that just won't fly. Two is not nearly enough to pay back the slightest insult to our Beer should we need to engage in such acts.

So the question becomes: "How do we get more Javelins for the org?"

There are several ways:
  1. It has been hinted already that the UEE decommissions these fine ships in a very stripped down state from time to time but probably randomly and with great infrequency.
  2. It has also been hinted that you can win one as a prize. How? We don't know.
Both of these options are....rather boring imo. Lets do something a bit more TEST instead. For this option I am presuming a few things but they are not outside the realm of possibility given some of the things we have read and heard. I present Option 3:

Option 3: We locate and scan down every Javelin we can find(shouldn't be too hard with our numbers) using alts as to not arouse suspicion. The scanning of people shouldn't be an issue seeing as how we can scan for cargo so people should be a natural thing. The Javelins we're looking for are lightly crewed, a single player and a bunch of NPCs or a few players and NPCs.

So lets say we find one. Then what? We TEST the hell out of the ship boarding mechanics. A Javelin can not hit small fast targets and all those Redeemers we got will finally come in handy. Prowlers can also be used if they come out before the PU launches but for now Redeemers. We use several fully loaded Redeemers at several points on the ship and breach. Once inside we fight it out and win. Can we win? Yes! Because we'll bring a number of Marines at least 1.5 times theirs.

We'll take the ship back to our hiding place, repair any damage and it will be ours.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what is the lesson here because if I thought of this then 5 others will have too. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAPITAL SHIPS OUT ON DAY 1. It is more important to fit and crew them properly for what we will use them for than to take them joyriding and be stolen for us.

After that then we can take them for joyriding. Sound good?

Dont take it out day 1? Plan on having a large crew day 1 as well as flying cover.
We don't know how long it takes to refit and arm them. I doubt something this large it will be a simple swap in and out. Chris has said it will take work to get them up and running to peak potential.

Yes, I bet it will take some time. But flying in high security space, I doubt we will have much to worry about.

Soooooo your saying we can't do a parade of Test ships on Day 1? Each person gets in his favorite ship after drinking all morning waiting for servers to load and then tries to pilot in a straight line around the other testies as we ram..errr battle anything that comes in our way. Take that asteroid... and you moon.... stupid planet.. get our of my way...

Not going to happen. Damnit I even got myself a parade outfit all setup....

I would be glad to crew or fly cover for our Javelins. I'm not taking any of my most expensive craft out on day 1, at least not for the first couple of hours.

A Javelin can not hit small fast targets
This will be the largest mistake that I think many players will learn the hard way. Thinking that because they have a really big bad ass ship they are invulnerable and can therefore just go where they please. Large ships without escorts are sitting ducks. Otherwise we wouldn't build battle groups around them as we do in the real world. Naïve players will discover this quickly which is why it is important to employ this strategy upon release. IMHO.

We're a huge org. I understand not wanting to take out capitol ships without proper preparation, but if we use our large amount of members looking for something to do besides fly an aurora, we'd have a huge escort/crew. All this would require is some advance planning.

We would all look like the drones in the terrible film adaptation of Enders Game.

"Testies form a barrier around the Javi's.... I want us triple stacked" as the Auroras form a bee like covering.... yessss I see this parade...errr barrier formation working perfectly....

I suppose it's nothing wrong with firing up the engines, travel a couple of rounds around the block, have people to train/get familiar with onboard systems somewhere safe. These ships will take some time to get to full operational status, which we in the meantime may use ships like Idris frigates/other for that task, and to further train/practice/familiarize ourselves with the functionalities of capitals in general.

This will be awesome, Gentlemen. :D

I will fly my 890 jump as escort, I am sure I will be a torpedo magnate as well :D
I know what you meant, but I'm going to be a torpedo magnate with my Retaliator.

Have a feeling there will be a ton of people who would want to come along for the ride the first time we launch. If nothing else, fly with us. We would have a good sized fleet roaming.

I pledge my Gladiator to the "Liberate Javelins for TEST" cause.
I think the idea is to have the Javelins in one piece. Of course, my Reclaimer doesn't care.

But there will inevitably be some massive fleets of small, fast ships (the goons?) ready and waiting to Scourge any Javelin, Idris, or 890s that get paraded around without proper escort, armaments, or defenses.
Whoever they are, I'm sure they'd love nothing more than a huge boost to their morale bars and post videos of their triumph over the wealthy backers and P2W all over the forums.. I agree it will be nice to show off our massive TEST fleet, and I'm know going to be drooling the entire time when we do it, but we need to be prepared and constantly vigilant. :D
