I am [CONCERNED] by the Shipyard: Ship Technical Information document. In the "Little Chart of Big Ship Sizes", the love of my life, the Endeavor, is classed as a Capital Ship. The description for capital-sized ships is this:
"Huge ships [...] that require a significant investment in time or crew to maintain let alone run. The crew needs to be skilled in many areas to effectively operate [...]. While these ships are not designed for the casual, individual player, they will offer a unique gameplay experience to the dedicated crew who put in the time and resources."

Guys, I'm scared. I am a casual, individual player. I know you people are awesome (and many) and we'll be able to play together when Star Citizen goes live, but because of my weird play/work schedule, I imagine that most of my time in the game will be spent solo. Also, most of my (few) IRL friends who care about SC will have died of old age by the time the game is released.
For the longest time, I imagined that I will be able to solo my Endeavor Hope, filled to the brim with NPCs, and patch people up all around the 'verse. Now I'm starting to think I've bitten off more than I can chew.

My issue is this: I freaking love the Endeavor; it's my favorite ship in the game. But it's also not suited for a solo player. On the other hand, there are some smaller ships (that would fit my playstyle better), that I can't afford to buy because I already own the Endeavor. I could melt it (it melts for $105 less than its value) and get the smaller stuff, but then I wouldn't have the Endeavor anymore *shudders*. Also, what if I'll be able to rent/sell the Endeavor for UEC when the game goes live and buy all the small ships that I want? Gah!!
What would you guys do? (poll above)

So, I presume you purchased a Master Set with the aid of a 10% coupon.

My advice is: do not melt it. There is a lot of potential and gameplay choices in that ship: exploration, science, support, or a mix of everything.

I'm not much into MISC, but I admit it has some of the most practical designs of the 'verse. Grab a bunch of testies, install the Landing Bay module for a couple Hornets or Cutlasses, and you'll be set for some serious fun :)

Also keep in mind: once the game is live there is nothing from stopping you to make some ingame money to buy a cutlass red or a compareable ship to fullfil your solo dreams
You're right. While I already have a Cutlass Red, I'd also like a Freelancer MAX (for some cargo gameplay), maybe a fighter (because I have 0 combat ships), maybe a Herald etc. But reading what you wrote, I realize that I'm kind of comfortable with the idea of working for some of them in game. That would give me something to strive for.
It really seems that you have some emotional investment in owning the ship... enjoy that!
Oh, you have no idea! If I end up melting the Endeavor, I'm almost sure I'll cry. I love that damned thing.

Actually, the ship used to be a Starfarer and it got bumped up in price at some point ($195 -> $300). Still, if I melted the Endeavor, I'd end up with a Cutlass Black worth of wasted money (not actual money; free money, but still money).

Keep it! or sell it to me!

But, I'm guessing that if you keep it, you will find ways to adapt your gameplay to enjoy it.

Like you, I consider myself to be a solo, casual player, but I have had a blast recently crewing on a multi-crew ship. As the game evolves, and the Spectrum app incorporates more features (like internal ship comms, ship-to-ship comms), I think that multi-crew ship play will become a new craze!

Just give it time (or, as I said, sell it to me!)

I'm pretty sure CIG said they plan to make renting out your ships a thing, so if worse comes to worst, you can rent it and make money with it while having pride of ownership and not having to crew it. TEST is going to need it as a hospital ship for campaigns, though, so you will use it and happily see you and your fellow TESTies using it in our campaign of global domination. Or galactic domination. Beerfest?

keep it
but because of my weird play/work schedule
Well, if the game works out to let people sleep while others take duty and TEST has global players, it shouldn't be too hard to find a group of global TESTies with the same passion as you who are willing to share the adventure.

We don't own too many Endeavors (as per the ship inventory spreadsheet - and that counts all Endeavors, not just the Hope), so maybe it's better if we kept it around. If a fellow testie wants to fly it and manage it, I'm good; all I want to do is work in the hospital.

I know she'll be in good hands. <3

Capital class ships will go one of two ways when the game becomes playable, and that depends on how players use them.

If it turns out 99.9% of the player base want to play solo and the largest ship flying ends up being the Connie, mechanics would likely come in that would let a cap ship be piloted by a lone player. If 99.9% of players like teaming up the big ships will work as intended, and if it's really popular some of the smaller currently soloable ships like the Connie and Freelancer may get some buffs for multicrew use.

The above was theorycraft, too early to say really what is going to be happening. :-/
