I intend to own both and pay for neither. That is why my starter home will be a Prowler. Before the Prowler comes out I'll fly a Sentinel and a Hoplite (loaner for the Prowler) on wing. That and some friends is all you need to own a StarG, a Connie, a Tally, a Crucible, a BMM, a Carrack, a Polaris, a. . .

TBH I have both, but that's because I have a problem and can't say no :nerd:

But in all seriousness I got them both because I don't yet know my play style, and they both will play important roles within a fleet/taskforce and I feel the organisation will benefit from their presence. Having said that I've voted Polaris because she's just sooooo sexy

You can borrow it whenever you want.
You make my pants tight.

And this is why I have a Reclaimer. Because Leir won't liberate itself. Haha.
I can't wait to start capturing ships.

For sure! I am just trying to decide which one to get. I've been in love with both for a long time now it's difficult.
Buy a Hoplite, Sentinel, Warden or Harbinger and come privateering with us. Then you can own whatever we decide needs liberating. Seriously, for game start, joining a group of Vanguard raiders is the best way to own whatever you like without paying for it. Pay for NPCs and upgrades, not ships. Ships are "free".

And really there are so many who already own Vanguard, you don't even need to pay for one. Every Sentinel needs an EM Warfare expert. Every Hoplite needs a Master Sargent for ship boarding. Every Vanguard needs a turret gunner. Anyone paying to play can join a privateering squad. You don't need real money, and these ships will give you tight pants whether you pay for them or play for them.

If you had to choose between getting one of the two ships, which one would you choose? Don't make your choice based on your current ships. Make the decision as if you had no ships similar to these at all. And why would you choose said ship?

I know there is a massive difference between the two, but I am still curious.
stop being curious dammit

Can't we all have both?
Yes, you can. I do.

Polaris.

Because those walkways are big enough to drive around in a greycat like a bitch, honking at the crew and yelling obscenities as you speed by.

I like yer style. You have given me an idea.

That's exactly what happened to me. Some days I plan to gear up and explore out that way. And other days I plan to go around tear assin' and escortin' with the Org.

This is me in my Carrack(and every other non-military ship I own). A Carrack is a money-maker, and Carlos gots to get paid. Those big military ships have to be fueled and armed and crewed and there has to be a return on that investment. My military commitments to the org will be fulfilled by the 10 military ships I own, ranging from a Retaliator down to an Aurora LN, and I would sign on to one of those big battlewagons as a gunner in a heartbeat. I would get something that you can crew up quickly and won't cost an arm and a leg to operate, and in your case that would be a Carrack

I picked both. The polaris for helping the org in military pressure, piracy, and pool. The Carrack for exploration, smuggling, and piracy.
I had to get a Polaris becausr I knew that I would end up the same way. Same with the Idris :(

But I can't have both :cry::cry: Trust me, I would love to have both if I could.

Okay I am biased as I have both in my hanger. The polaris is my one regret buying ship, its main weopons are torpedoes that are going to be hideously expensive to fire. Well it also has turrets and well we all know how shit they are they are not even as much use as week old pizza.

The carrack is a weird beast the top of the line in exploration ships coming with a rover as well. Of the two the carrack seems most obviously useful if you like exploration. Ironically I am thinking of converting my carrack into a cruicible because I have a terrapin for space exploration and like the idea of the sub type game play.

So the polaris is hideously expensive to buy (test has loads) will be expensive to man and run and fire.
I would pick both as many have said, but if I had to choose I go for the Carrack reason for that is the Polaris you can not handle on your own no matter how you do it, the Carrack on the other hand is possible to handle on one crew member but would be/work more efficient on minimum of 3 crew. Polaris I think it's somewhere around 5-7crew for it to be efficient or even more.
And yeah! you said it, they are so different and so are their purpose that they are not comparable at all.

There you have my thought on it and I totally left out their purpose for the need for crew to handle it is most important with out that purpose is irrelevant.. hence the reason I pick the Carrack.

CHEERS! :beer::beer::beers:

You're welcome, there is actually two more reasons to pick the Carrack... you get a Rover and a snubb fighter too.. or some other vehicles.. they said they gonna change it but no one know what but they said you're gonna be happy... mm... and I melted my Carrack... so guess what...

I 'll get it back, it will be mine... it will be mine.... muaaa haaaa haaaa haaaaa !
