Nope, I replaced my SSD and still got issues. PC freezed with SC and before that with ED. Other games seemed fine. When it was really bad, at least a crash before I successfully completed ICC mision 1, I also had HW monitor running, mem, GPU, CPU, temperature. I played an FPS game and could play whole evening without crash. I noticed that with SC my video memory was fully used, while with the FPS only 1/4th of GPU memory was used. I always suspected my GPU, but I couldn't find proof. 2 weeks ago I went through the user.cfg and I noticed this line:Have had the same problem the past weeks. Now and then, the PC suddenly freezed. Without any reason, it seemed. I did memtest - no result. Ran Whocrashed - no result. Tested the hard drives - no result. One day, I again ran Whocrashed - and received the message that *probably* I driver could be outdated. I checked my system - no result. I bought(!!!!) a tool to check the system. Turned out - attention - that every driver is up to date...............

At least, this f*cking tool told me that I should update my Windows 10. Well, I sighed deeply because I did not want to update Windows 10 because of this issue with the DRM rights. But anyway, the computer crashed again, and I surrendered.
Guess what: update was done, computer crashed again.
Then, out of nowhere, I had an idea. Very slight one...I remembered that my 2 TB WD HDD made a strange noise. It was two or three weeks ago, and only one or two times. And it *seemed* to me that it only was....nothing; particularly as the HDD worked seemingly fine. But who knows....
I bought a new HDD, replaced the old one with the new (better, but smaller) HDD. AND GUESS WHAT - the PC runs flawlessly. Never had a crash since then.
ARRRRRRRRRRGH!!
; Setting Texture Sizes, Change The r_TexturesStreamPoolSize based on you Graphics Card Memory 256 for 2GB or Less, 512 for upto 3GB, 1024 for upto 4GB, 2048 for upto 6Gb. If you have over 6GB you can run 4096.
r_TexturesStreamPoolSize = 512
My custom setting was 2048, I only have 4GB of RAM so I changed that down to 512. Crashing was lesser since. In the beginning I didn't use custom user.cfg and the problem got better or worse after a Nvidia update. GPU definitely is the problem, but what precisely is not clear. Temperature and mem load seem to be connected to crashes.
