Marc, it sounds like you had a lovely vacation. Good for you. :)
The weather was perfect, first one week Austria, every day a trip to somewhere, then 4 days beach, relaxing, only go out for diner. Thanks allot, our vacation couldn't be better :D:D:D
(lets me feel bad for the people that didn't had a good vacation)

I'm going to need more coffee...

Oh, and 40+ like notifications over night? @Blind Owl is back! We missed you!

It is actually very simple:
Star Citizen or the engine where Star Citizen on runs uses CPU2 for networking. When your system isn't very powerful, then it can happen that CPU2 == network will go at 100% causing lag, bad performance, while your other CPUs are running fine.

By using the workaround, you will tell the engine that it can't use CPU2 exclusively for networking, but that it can use any available CPU to do its tasks. It actually works super. My desktop was powerful enough to play good while CPU2 was stressed by network tasks. The laptop isn't. By applying the workaround the game becomes playable again on the laptop.

This gave me another insight: In the beginning my laptop really was a handicap. By setting my user.cfg to performance instead of quality and by releasing CPU2 from being stressed, I fixed that problem. Then I noticed: the Vanduuls are flying way better since 2.5. Also my aim has to improve, otherwise I can't hit. Pre 2.5 repeaters where too strong. They just ripped through any opponent. Now I actually must fight to win, use my throttle , don't rely on strafe and boost too much, because it destroys my aim. Also before 2.5 I just could outshoot a medium fighter with my light fighters.
Now it is harder for the light fighters to perform better then medium fighters... that is what it is supposed to be ;). I better gear up ,y Sabre and start practicing with it, otherwise I really will be a sitting duck :D

Haha great picture! =D

In only back as I'm taking a wee break from my studies. I'm out east now, away from my family, and I'm not going to lie, I'm having a rough time. Three months away from my wife and son is a daunting prospect. I'm trying to focus on the work I need to do right now, and all I can think of is how much I miss them. :(
Big ol' suck I am.

Anyways, I'll pop online when I can manage the time. The workload is intense for this course, so I won't be around near as much as I have been traditionally.

But it will be worth the effort, if your wife and son can move to where you are stationed :) Imagine seeing them every day :D
(what happens to @CrudeSasquatch??? Will he also move to your new cellar????)

Better spend your time talking to your wife and son!!! We can wait ;)

Yes, thank you for the words of encouragement. That is precisely why I'm doing this change. For my family. :)

If all goes well, he'll be joining the military himself very soon, and he'll be off on his own. If not, I imagine he'll stay where the work is while my family moved wherever I get posted

Indeed my friend. We have Skype dates almost daily. Can't have my son forgetting who daddy is while I'm going. Or my wife forgetting who hubby is, for that matter. Haha.

I'm already missing you @Blind Owl (and you too, @CrudeSasquatch ).
But real life is it which counts - so please stay healthy and focussed ;)
Nevertheless, I would be very happy to read some posts of you here again now and then.
You two were - and still are - one of the major pillars of TEST community.
All the best, have a good time!

Thanks for your kind words Sam. You are, and shall continue to be, the epitome of TEST. Simply amazing. :)
I shall endeavor to pop in as much as I can. Pretty heavy work load here on this course, but I can always take a minute or five to say hello every couple days. :)

Good morning somewhere I'm sure!

So any of you guys using the dual joysticks? Haven't used a controller or any type since I was in the Army on a buddy's console, almost 10 years ago now (getting old o_O). Have a cheap-o stick with throttle that was given to me, but it's all one unit so it takes up more space than I'm willing to sacrifice. So, basically, I only mouse and keyboard ever.
What this video describes, I can do for around $80 (no sales tax on internet purchase, go USA).

These, I could put on either side of keyboard to take up less room and I wouldn't be spending so much that If I don't like, I'll have to kick myself.
Do any of you see flaws in this plan? Care to share any thoughts or suggestions?

I would take 2 T.16000M sticks. The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro has another angle of play, the Logitech leans more forward. Optimal use of a flightstick isn't desktop level. I would make a two mounts to get the sticks attached to the desktop, under destop level, in front of your desk or two mounts on the armrest of your chair.

Good early morning (3 am here). Woke up to the sound of someone smashing car windows outside my place (not my vehicle). Everyday, I am wanting more and more a change of scenery. I miss small towns, or countrysides, or beaches...
Normally, this city is very nice for its size. Still, I'd rather be waking up to wildlife messing with the trash rather than thieves stealing from my neighbors.
