Ship Talk #5 is being written right now. Its all about the Cutlass and Variants. Check out the pic below. This one will be much shorter than #4 for many reasons(3 ships and same hull) but should still be a good read. I'm really interested in talking about the Cutlass Red and the overall equipment of the ships.

Ah I still can't play Arena commander and even if i could I wouldn't write about their performance because that is much more subjective than my intense disappointment about some numbers. I leave the AC bitching to you guys to write about after I make my post. I can guarantee it won't be 3 posts long again( I REALLY hope not at least).

I'm really looking forward to talking myself into getting a cutlass red for some reason like I did with the Freelancer MAX(not bought yet but in the future maybe). I also like the various equipment on these ships listed because it shows thought by CIG unlike other ships.

So i'm terrible and the Cutlass Talk won't be up until tomorrow because I've been trying to complete this campaign in Dawn of War: Soulstorm. Its bad because I had the pictures done last Sunday and just kept getting busy and then played DoW again and got back into it. Yeah I'm terrible.

Expect much attention lavished on the Cutlass Red because its so damn cool.

Of greater importance though is the Hull Series. I've said it before but when it is released for a concept sale this month I will be doing a full dedicated Ship Talk on it and will have it done that weekend if they post the stats on the spec page. This is so that if people are on the fence about it can 'maybe' make a more informed decision about the ships themselves. I for one am really excited for them and cargo ships in general as a logistical backbone to all our operations.

The Talk will just be about the Hull series itself with a few comparisons to the other haulers. I'm expecting this series to be really good at what it does and have plenty of other uses as well.

You are bad, and you should feel bad! Pay no attention to me procrastinating my own stuff and playing video games over here.

Out of curiosity I'm reading the Freelancer descriptions and becoming convinced that this series of ships is badass. Freelancers Ship Talk will be up next week and one of the best I've ever done. VERY excited about this one. Don't be starting [CONCERN] threads about a lack of ST this week. I'm taking a break.

Made significant headway on the Freelancer writing today because I want to post it Thursday before the Hull sale. I'll admit I'm having a hard time not going to the pledge store and picking ALL of these ships up right now because they are all Millennium Falcons in their own right.

Hull Series Ship Talk will be up on Sunday sometime.

Writing the Freelancer Talk while listening to this song:

I'm almost done with the writing and on the Closing Thoughts portion at the end. I'll be editing and polishing this Tuesday and Wednesday for posting Thursday evening. Thats right Thursday because of the Hull Series sale on Friday ad I need that time to start writing that for posting on Sunday.

So tomorrow is the Hull Series Talk. I'll be honest here, I have very mixed feelings about this line of ships and it isn't because of lack of defense or manpower or something little. My main concern, lol concern, is that they have basically wiped the field clean as far as cargo hauling is concerned.

So your Banu MM the other day had 6K cargo capacity making it a very attractive option to own one day to haul. Same with the starfarer and even the Taurus as a freighter. Now they have had all their capacities cut by 3/4 so the MM only has 1500 SCU which puts it out of the running for any really serious cargo hauling and only the Hull series can move a bunch of cargo at once AND requiring escorts.

Not only is the cargo very exposed to space which will let people scan it easily and take what they want if they can corner it but your maneuverability that was once at least acceptable on the other ships is now cut so far down on the Hull Series it isn't even funny. Literally space whales and no flippers. And if you don't believe that then go look at the lack of maneuvering thrusters listed "coming soon".

Another thing is the appearance. I was really lookng forward to this line of ships because sometimes I like to run cargo or haul my own stuff to a new place etc. For the record I bought a Hull C because LTI and opportunity later but anyway back to appearance. I was epxecting something very large and boxy with a fully enclosed cargo bay that at the Hull E level could transport whole ships. No we got the Orion having sex with the Freelancer and I really wanted this:

Large, bulky, holds a bunch. Thats the Caldari Charon Freighter from Eve Online btw but it looks like it'll take some damage and keep going. Oh something else, I never got one of the above in Eve before I left. I got the Gallente one instead because of other reasons but never a Charon so the Hull Series was gonna fulfill that for me.

For all that though I will say that I like the appearance of the ships when they are FOLDED UP. Might be one of the only things I like about them.

So tomorrow when I put the Hull Series up, its going to be a Commentary piece like the Vanguard. In the future I may like the ships more than I do now but making serious cargo hauling almost exclusive to the Hull series bites. Hard.

Agreed on the look, I really wanted a giant armoured box like that picture.
We can just hope they release something like this in the future, giving us what we want but also providing the Hull series with a little competition.

tbh im not all that upset about the hull series...

what is the hull series meant to be? a pure no holds barred cargo transport
Its a space supertanker, its not meant to be manouverable or armored or well armed, its mean to carry rediculously fucking large amounts of cargo... and that is exactly what it does

want cargo capacity as well as firepower and manouverability? then get a taurus or freelancer max... an andromeda, MM, cutlass black or lancer will still be a great option, just with slightly different focuses on them
