That whole midiclauriants thing in episode 1 is total bullshit. Put me off episode 2, 3 and 7 so didn't watch them. Well that and Jar Jar. And the plot.
Know why? When you know what causes something you can influence it because Science. WHy not inject Midiclaurients into your hands for lightening bolts, and in to your eyeballs and get x-ray vision?
