I wouldn't rule out espionage. Like maynard said, "condone it or no, it would be a mistake to rely on it", but I don't think it should be abandoned as a concept or dismissed as an option.

You know, I'm happy you mentioned seung earlier, Kato. That makes this so much easier if we already have a leader. I'm going to poke him about the name.

We aren't doing espionage. That's a big no-no we'd like to avoid. Surprisingly for a group of drunks, TEST squadron is going to try and avoid cultivating the same cut-throat atmosphere present in EVE online. Considering how decentralized our leadership will be, and how TEST is an organization that exists far beyond star citizen, there really isn't much enemy orgs can do. We've got a solid bedrock of dedicated members bolstered by a massive number of less involved people. As orgs go, we're in no danger of dissolving. We're too connected already. Basically, I don't think enemy orgs with agents planted within us would really pose much of a threat in any capacity beyond an immediate engagement.

We'll need people to represent us, and being friendly to other orgs is a part of being a TESTie! but let's try and stop this from getting too serious, we've already had some "ambassadors" approach TEST with hopes for an alliance. It's really hilarious how formal they are. Basically, don't turn this into a parody of real life. We need people with real people skills, not well-meaning RP'ers working out of a political handbook (no offense to artemis division) when we've got org warfare or trade agreements on the line.

Fair enough Grammar, when you explain it like that it doesn't seem like espionage is needed. Focus on diplomacy and trade then, I guess!

My thoughts exactly, albeit with active usage of the luxury vessels as a discussion platform.

So then my statement still stands grammar, I generally am an overall good negotiator on a more serious line, but I would prefer to be in yellow jackets over diplomacy. Once things like this get fleshed out more down the road, with the more serious side, I would say people should be allowed multiple areas, but they need to stick with a primary were they can't be like, well I have a diplo meeting today, but there is also this mission sooo...i'm going to with the mission today and diplo another time. They would need to have one or the other take precedence at all times. Still allowed to bounce multiple areas and have fun, but when multiple comes up, they will always go to their primary.

So what about armed escorts? Having a set number of redeemer on stand by loaded with marines if negotiations go south, etc. There is to say we wont dive into espionage but others will and having an armed escrot of redeemers to breach would be great.

I think that would depend on just how critical they are to the situation. If we really NEED someone, and he's available, then that should be his priority. However, the advantage of diplomacy is that it can easily be rescheduled in such a low-risk environment as a game.

In terms of making people do stuff, that won't exist unless they expressly volunteer for a critical position. Seung is vital to our operation as an org, there are times when he will have to do things for us whether he wants to or not.

A relatively minor marine, or pilot, or trader or even organizer shouldn't be forced into a schedule at all. We're not going to kick people because they burn out on SC and want to play something else for a while. If they volunteer for an important position, they will be held to its responsibilities as long as they remain there. If they opt out, there's nothing we can do but hope they give us time to find a replacement.

Basically, the average guy should have the freedom to do what he wants whenever he wants, but if he's willing to sacrifice some of that freedom to better his squad and by extension the org, we're all too ready to give them that chance.

Oh snap, if that's how diplomats are meant to behave for TEST I definitely want in.

^ reminds me of the diplomacy in 300.

"You come here wanting us to join you? For what! To better your own needs through using us?! To war I say, we are not to be used!!"
