And thanks for the advice on the gown, do I have to go in to F4 external view to do the removing? Every time I press F to click it brings me back to first person? I'll be staying in my undies I've no desire to loose any more assets.
No, instead of using the mobiglass to enter your equipping mode, stand a bit away from walls & then press "i" to bring up your personal inventory manager. On the left of your char you'll see your on hand inventory slots, on the left you'll see in 1 tab the "local" inventory as well as your "vehicle" inventory if you're in a vehicle that can hold storage for you. 1 trick that I do when doing shopping from location to location, is to equip a heavy chest to also hold a heavy backpack to help you store more. Then when you're away from home, if you have more than you can carry, once you've loaded into your ship, quickly open your inventory to transfer as much from your local & personal inventory into your ship inventory to carry for you until you get back to your home location, or at least until you reach the space station above it. Then stop out of the way there, but not on a pad, if possible stand up, & transfer things from your ship to local storage before resuming your journey home. This way, if something goes wrong, all you've lost was what you were wearing at most.

What do you mean by looted items?
So someone knocks me on my ass and runs off with my Subscriber Caudrillo Hazard Helmet.

They now own that helmet but its existence - it's serial number - is logged to my account in my hangar. If I melt it, will it vanish off their head and leave them to suffocate in the barren cold of space, because I have destroyed it's serial number and it no longer exists as an asset, or will it continue to exist and they won't suffocate and loose all their other junk?

Heh, I'm going to give this a try! Thanks, it has a couple of things I didn't think of.

I figured these tricks out through trial & error while flying my lady & I around from place to place to get geared up with things from around the Verse that could be readily purchased to preserve our cash paid items for special events. It took a few days & a few tries, but that's what it boiled down to.

Yes you can always buy any sub item in sub store with store credit, anytime you want to.

@Talonsbane you can buy 100% with credit all the time on sub store, no need to inject a single $.

Actually if you do not sub reccurently, you can only sub time to time to get access to the store, and buy with credits all items you wanted that you missed. Its what I am doing. Plus if you want after, you can melt those sub items that you bought with credits, and get the credit back if needed. When you can NOT melt items received each month through subscription, for those you can only gift them.

What do you mean by looted items?
are you sure that items received via a subscription can be bought back? i mean they should be worth 0.00 usd which usually the store doesnt let you buy that stuff back.

Ah no, never said that. Items received through sub can NOT be melted, that is what I said, those can only be gifted :)

But you can buy with store credit any item in the sub shop, and melt them as you wish.

Account reset will bring you back the helmet for now :)

As for long term after game release, that is a good question. They said they will figure a system to replace arms/armor you bought for real money.

I'm talking about the Subscriber Store purchases. You get your free junk when you subscribe but there is a store only accessible by subs where you can buy 90% of the items that have been offered to subscribers for a couple of quid each. I was wondering if I melted those purchases after someone has looted the item off of me, does it vanish and leave them up crap creek if it was a helmet and they were not in a breathable atmo. Because I want that to be the case. I want that to be the case sooooo bad.

Wel, considering that 90% of the actuall subscriber item are just re-skin of already in-game item I'll expect, one the weapons and armor customiziation came into play, that CIG will simply provide a stock armor/weapon with the associated subcriber skin, much like the BIS skin for ship.
So when you loos the armor/weapon, you'll just need to buy a stock one and apply the skin that will persit in your inventory.
For "unique" item I'll expect in the future to came into in.game shop too, maybe with differrent skin: I can't immagine a comapny spend time to produce an entire asset, provide alla the backend management of it for juust a few thousand of them... skins on the other hand are more "disaposable" item.

As much as I'd like to see that I doubt it will: this could open up a lot of abuse that won't be funny for at lest 50% of the player involved in it.
Very likely as soon as a player die with a subscriber item on them, that item will be cloned and a new Item-ID generated: the original itemItem-ID will remain on your account inventory, while the other one will be "disposable" and eventually remove form the game once the thief will be arrested and the stolen good confiscated.

Though slightly confusingly the names don’t sound like they match: “this month's Flair: the Sangar Helmet and Morozov Aftershock Armor, which combines high-tech energy absorption with a gladiator-style design with a sizable backpack”.

Though as a non-FPS player (for now), subscriber armour is going to stay in my inventory. I don’t really want to lose it in a fight with a random rock somewhere.

I haven't worn a thing since my first death and losing my default gear ingluding suit and helmet. It just means I have to stay in my ship unless there is an internal hangar to land in.

Ahhh finally, a very important confirmation that they are working on a system to allow us to recover items paid with real money that are lost ingame. They told vaguely about it in the past, now its written in the stone :)

With the launch of Alpha 3.15 and the introduction of Physical Inventory, you may find yourself suffering an untimely demise at the hands of a pirate or an ill-timed crash. But in either case, fear not! Even if your body is looted or you otherwise lose your items through death, all your Subscriber Flair items (and similar items acquired on the pledge store) can be easily recovered. Simply head to your account settings and initiate a character reset, which will restore any platform-attributed items you've lost in-game.

It's important to note that this is only a temporary solution to get you those items back quickly. We're exploring a number of alternative recovery options which we plan to implement later on down the line.

Edit : on a sidenote, doing a reset just for an item is also a pain in the ass, since all your stuff bought in different stations will be gathered at your starting location, and you will loose all your ammo and utilities (meds).
