Why are ships so hard? (this may be a shitpost)

I got too many ships.

But I will be lending em out something fierce to my peeps when need be. I'm flying my Cat and you're joining me for a raid? Bro you can totally borrow one of my Blues or Buccs, or fly one of my Dragonflies if you wanna live dangerously.

Not to mention tons of TESTies have multi-crew ships which, well, require multiple crew members. I can't fly my Cat on my own, so if anyones ship is exploded any they don't have another they can always gun a turret on my Cat!

I got too many ships, and I'm not just gonna let 90% of em sit in hangar doing nothing when someone else could be using them.
It's cool. I'll get plenty of ships in game and I know there will be plenty more floating around TEST. There's a possibility that I'll never fly my one ship once everything goes full swing since there will be so many TESTies to team up with.

I'd love to finish upgrading to a redeemer from the freelancer. Don't think the wife will let me spend any more on star citizen. Haha.

I do like this thought process. TESTie rentals and loaners.
I will gladly fill your ship full of fuel, I just hope your avatar doesn't smoke because I may or may not put said fuel in the tanks. ;3
Hehehehe. Ba-BOOOOM!!
We should hire you too fuel up Vanduul ships.

You're always welcome on board my ships, friend.

If you are finishing all the waves of the Vanduul that come against you without even flying the best fighter for that task, that means you have a clue which is probably better than the rest of us.
I thought the asteroids were the true enemy there? They certainly have the highest K/D ratio against me!

You're always welcome to board my ships, friend.
Aww, I had planned on it anyways, but thanks for the invitation!

The completionist in me demands that I obtain as many ships as I possibly can. My wallet, however, demands that I obtain most of them in game. My biggest ship is my Hull A (though you could argue the Reliant is bigger since it's a two-seater), but I've got most of the single seaters.

I don't finish all the waves, that only works when my allies stays long enough alive to diverse the Vanduul fire. Alone I'm a dead man ;)

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

So what is the best dog so far? I know some say the Gladius is a "Hornet killer" but you black out in it so fast it doesn't seem to me that much attention to engines is the best choice. Gimme shields and guns any day over fancy stuff if that stuff makes you black out. That's worse than guns that go empty or overheat regularly.

I don't like the looks of the Hornets, and I love the looks of the Bucks, but it does seem to me the Hornet is hard to beat.

I black out in a 350R, Gladius does much better. If you want to kill a Hornet then you should replace the Gimbals with some heavier guns. Also use some fast locking missiles. With the agility and speed I would try to spin around the Hornet, keep away from it guns, keep firing with CF117 repeaters to weaken its shield (you can fire those badges really long before overheating). By buzzing around the Hornet you would force it to turn allot and losing allot speed. Perfect target for missiles. Head on I would pick the Sabre.
I once went against a Sabre with a Delta. I chewed away its shields with my Badgers, was really fun target practice. Although the Sabre killed me twice I won the fight because I did much more damage.

Yeah....me and BlindOwl being two of those people. I am thinking on the selfish end of the spectrum. If *I* need credits, *I* can go out and git em. You think Ill GIVE fuel out to everyone just cuz they're a TESTie? Oh definitely not. They'll have to dance for me first. Just like Jamie Lee Curtis in True lies. @Zapp Brannigan is a repeat customer.....keeps forgetting to take the gas cans I fill for him tho....
I just like to dance.

i like my hornet, its ugly, but putting that big Behring cannon on top makes me soo happy xD
I tried that too, was a bit disappointing. The Hornet lacks speed and agility. I put on 2x CF227 on the wings, 2x M3a on the canard and 2x CF117 on the turret and it worked better for me. Although, Super Hornet. I don't know if you can buy a turret for the Hornet.

So you fly with two pair lasers on the wings as primary and a slower, stronger weapon that requires ammo for sure shots?
I fly with 3x Panthers, and the Behring, although i dont do a lot of PvP, its great for killing Vanduul and Pirates. but thats personal preference. My cutlass ran a similar loadout.

I tried that too  That was my first setup, remove the canard for a Panther, the 2 wing guns for Panthers and the ball turret with a Behring, but the biggest problem was: You can't shoot all Panthers at the same time, reconfigure firegroups was hard, and the Behring overheated too fast, but with the M3A and Badgers you can shoot allot, no overheating, the two Panthers come in play when target is close enough.
I have a dual stage trigger. First Firegroup1, then Firegroup 1 and 2.

I would really love to see a Testie combat primer one day. I had no idea that some missiles take longer to lock than others. I'm sure just the issue of missiles is complex. Generally I don't like them because in every vid I've seen, they never hit. They don't even hit things like Freelancers. If a Freelancer can avoid a missile what good is it in combat?

maybe you should move this discussion to Combat Fighter ;)
There is only one profession I really like in the verse, that is combat fighter. It seems that allot players think that they are not so good pilots. That is a matter of training, use the style that fits your skills the best and use the right technics. Some tips may help to improve your skills so lets get started.
Feel free to add your tips, I'm surely not the only Combat Pilot.
I also think that flying together won't improve skills because I can't see in my fighter how other pilots fly so I can't give tips in flight what to improve and the other way too.
But... I'm very sad that I almost never meet other TEST pilots in combat. Please add my RSI handle and don't be afraid to invite me.
The only TEST pilot I ever met in Vanduul swarms, twice now is @CMDR_J_SHEPHERD .

They keep the target busy avoiding them instead of fighting you

same, i group all 3 panthers together everytime i get in the ship, its not too hard, takes me about 3 seconds, i actually mapped out a VoiceAttack Command specifically to do this quick and easily. Stage 1 trigger fires panthers, Stage 2 fires all weapons. and my panthers rarely overheat. I guess, thats kinda where trigger discipline comes in, but being a former .50 Cal Gunner in the army, and also having plenty of experience with the M249 SAW and M240B i have gotten good at controlled bursts that almost always land on or near the target. my trick with the behring is to wait until its pip lines up with the panthers, or the enemy is close enough that both pips are on the ship.
