Wonder how many frigates will get hit by Hull E's while patroling the shipping lanes...
I might be alone in this, but if we the mighty TEST Squadron was in an org battle with another org going Idris M to Idris M, their rail gun would look like a really tasty target for the torpedoes of my Eclipse. If those shots are successful, that would take a lot of bite out of their big dog.I theorize that smaller ships are going to need to be slowed down A LOT if you hope to hit them with a turret from a cap ship.
Those small fighters can whip in and out of range of those Idris turrets so fast, they are almost useless.
Engagement distance needs to be adjusted either by speed, or range of weapons.
I suspect speed will be reduced, which will make all the hardcore pilots cry, but is needed for game balance in the long run.
the large guns of a capital ship should rotate too slowly to hit fightersI theorize that smaller ships are going to need to be slowed down A LOT if you hope to hit them with a turret from a cap ship.

I find that to be a brilliant idea & if possible I would like to be included in that discussion as I have a few ideas that might also benefit us in said fights. When we get closer to a release with the Idris confirmed in it, I plan on starting a discussion group here on the TEST Squadron website, probably will ask @Montoya to create it, and we can discuss how carrier ops, frigate ops should pan out, and plan for it so that we can test the ideas being put forward.
I have a friend in TEST who owns two Idris frigates, and we plan to use them to develop a solidified operations manual for running capital ships.

Yeah! I agree really like that idea, specially if you're to be a crew on a capital ship every now and then it would be very help full or if you as other get one capital ship of your own.. a Capital ship group where to get info help and sign up for a tour would be great..I find that to be a brilliant idea & if possible I would like to be included in that discussion as I have a few ideas that might also benefit us in said fights.
I'm excited to crash land into one of the many Indrisis!I'm of the opinion that saying Idris', Idrises, Idrii, etc. is wrong. It's properly called an Idris-class Frigate. When you talk about Nimitz-class Carriers, do you talk about Nimitz' or Nimitzes or Nimitzi? No, say carriers. As such you should refer to frigate and frigates. Do we start theorycrafting about frigates now? That would be the proper usage. Polaris-class corvettes, Idris-class frigates, Javelin-class destroyers, Bengal-class carriers, etc. That's my theorycrafting. I am a little hyped to use these terms, yes.
I don't think we'll see direct-fire type turrets working against small ships, even if everything were slowed down further.I theorize that smaller ships are going to need to be slowed down A LOT if you hope to hit them with a turret from a cap ship.

IThey can fill the sky with flak... But they won't see us because the sun will be blotted out by Auroras
That will be true for 10 minutes in the official PU verse. And right now, we have more ship than creww
Why 10 min??That will be true for 10 minutes in the official PU verse.
It didn't appear half ready for prime time. No landing markers for the landing pilots at the end of the fight They have been shown int he new cutlass for the Nox). The Rover falling through the ramp was a problem they fixed for a similar situation on Bug Smashers (Looks like the physics zones are set up wrong.) No shields.I've been sitting here waiting for 4 years... but it looks like its finally almost time to actually see/use our idrises.
Was just wondering if we are finally at the point where we can get hyped and start making plans for them.
TEST, Auroras and beverage .... there will about about 14000++ insurance claims beyond the first 10 minutes. Why 10 min??
Hahaha, amen to this!TEST, Auroras and beverage .... there will about about 14000++ insurance claims beyond the first 10 minutes.
And a lot of pilots available for crewing big ships ;)
