I'm am actually interested in event ideas, what would you like to do, where would TESTies sign up for? There are some major activities:
  • combat flight
    • 1 vs 1
    • group vs group
    • group vs the rest
  • combat FPS
    • group vs group
  • trading
    • give me some ideas
  • mining
    • That is Rock Raiders department, but still I'm very interested
  • exploration
    • give me some ideas
  • shenanigans
    • you can be very creative on this one
Give me some ideas, I'm combat flight oriented, soooo, obviously I lack some inspiration on other activities. How would you setup an event, which components should be in the event to make it interesting for you? The only condition is that it has to be group oriented.

rally/shenanigans:
We all grab Graycats and play a Mario Kart around the Levski Mine lip. 3 laps, passengers can fire Rail Guns at the other cars (if you can do that in a Gray Cat)

Large scale mining operations with functioning 'saddlebags' on Prospectors and functional tractor beams on Caterpillars, so that there are plenty of tasks and profits to go around for crews.
Last thing I heard was that mining isn't functioning so good yet, but good for future events.

salvaging / hauling
Large scale salvage operations.
When salvaging becomes available.

trading/hauling
Mixed ship convoy operations (Starfarer, Caterpillar, Carrack, BMM, various Hull series, etc.) transporting goods from locations that have enough profitable goods available to locations with sufficient capacity to actually purchase indicated goods (unlike the current system where the best goods only have a storage capacity of ~2-40 SCU at the trade destination.)

While my idea would work better if you could trade off of stolen or borrowed ships, how about splitting into groups. Give every group the same SCU and UEC to start, then see how much each group can gather within a set time period. Put limits in place like each team is only allowed to attempt one Widow run each at the risk of losing time and UEC to camped ships. Maybe require at least one Hurston to Crusader and one Crusader to Hurston run. Something like that. The team with the most UEC above the start wins.
This has some potential! A long term operation, right now it still has some drawbacks, since player aUEC per team can't be controlled yet.

I'm thinking we should get people used to turrets, and to escorting bigger capital ships.
Maybe we could have group vs. group, where one group is just fighters and the other is fighters PLUS a bomber or Connie, and they have to protect it going from Point A to Point B.

FPS Missions on Hurston Give people with the Valkyrie the chance to use them for their intended purpose.
As a matter of fact, yes, @O-Lefty and @Knax already did this kind of event, @Montoya did a similar event, only not at Hurston. This is currently a very good goal for mixed flight / FPS combat event.

two teams. Each team gets a cargo crate to carry. Its a relay race. you have to trade off teh cargo box with the next person, and the next, and so on. Relay trade off spots can be on stations, outposts, rest stops, ships, etc...
We need special crates, I detect some cheating possibilities here 😇

Picking a underground facility on hurston and having one team defend, and the second attack.
You can have several variations on this from having to fight through defenders air support to having ground vehicles.
Ultimately to win you gotta shoot your way in and clear corners.
Once a team wins you trade places and do it again.
This sounds like fun 🍻

My personal preferences for combat have changed to a support role, rather than combattent. Otherwise, my weekend availability is increasing starting this weekend. It isn't what I would like yet, but it's more free time in about the right time slot.

All the activities I'd like to be involved in require the economy to be much more robust as well as involves a few other ships to be released.
And this ^^. sigh. I've been waiting for some ships since the world was still molten it seems.

So you are looking for trading. how would you convert this into an event goal for a group?

My personal preferences for combat have changed to a support role, rather than combattent.
Escorts and gunners are perfectly fine for group events. I'm not looking for an combat event, I'm looking for something which can be done as a group for a period of 2 hours, maybe longer, something which has general interest, combining multiple disciplines.

Otherwise, my weekend availability is increasing starting this weekend.
This weekend I won't be behind my rig :drunk: really hardcore people start this "event" at Thursdays and end next Wednesday, I barely managed to survive until Tuesdays

That should be a right laugh.
That would be great! It will be even better when the grenade launchers are in-game, lol!

Have there been any FPS Missions on Hurston events done yet?

Not really my thing, but it'd give people with the Valkyrie the chance to use them for their intended purpose.

Great ideas! If we;re looking long term, I'd love to see a regular sign up for groups to be able to go murder Vanduul. Son's of Orion stuff. . .take a harder mission because you have the numbers, etc.

Rumor is, that attacks on the Vanduul will have real cosmos effects, so if we organize a regular series of systematic assaults, this should generate results over time.

The way I look at it is, if the Vanduul can be conquored by the players, they will be conquored. If that's so, let it be TEST who takes their territories.

Also note, if we know when these attacks by players will occur, then we can arrange for our Reclaimers to be on the spot filling up with goodies. Vanduul drop lots of S5 guns. Gotta have 'em!

Rexzilla has a ton of videos where his org is doing 50 man battles and i think we should be doing the same.

I think on a smaller scale we could simply take over SPK for a day and challenge people tomtake it, this serves multiple purposes in that we get exposure and “training”.
