Now I've watched the video, weren't the engines Xi'An tech?

I have some kind of memory that it's Aegis collab with the Xi'An and the engines are something special. If I remember correctly they look like they've got grilled cheese all gooey between them when they are running?

EDIT - I may be remembering that wrong... would explain why it has those circles that the Prospector has as the Prospector is MISC which also has Xi'An technobobbery in it.

EDIT - EDIT - well, either way I like the engines. Makes it different.

Hmm... I'm a bit worried that this will just rip through medium to large ships faster than the escorts can respond (S3 shields are just 25k hp per side, so that's like, 5 seconds)... not quite sure where the balance will be, but atm it seems kinda lopsided.

Unless the escorts are using Redeemers to nerf incoming aggressors.

Well, if they detect the incoming redeemer 10km out then it'd be no problem, but if it's a situation where the escort formation got pulled out of quantum or that hostile redeemer was hanging out powered down near a outpost or something, then in that kind of situation it doesn't really matter what kind of escort ships you got, the ship being protected will be torn to shreds before anyone can do anything about it. The rest of the pirates can then show up with a salvage ship etc. and mop up the escorts.

Possibly range? It would make sense to me. Potent on defense/planetary operations but not a common threat to cargo/in deep space outside military operations with supply chains.

I agree with all of this, but I would say that if they make the engines not only swivel to face down, and open to 180*, that would provide a very wide base for VTOL thruster precision control, and we'd finally have a reason for the odd engine shape. I could live with that.

I can certainly live with the weapons hardpoints. I expect to be horribly disappointed that it can't be stealthed, and i do think they need to leave the drop-seats in. they sold it as gunship and dropship, and it needs to do both.

I guess i was right about the gunsize 😎
so if i don't mess up, the ship is now around 45meters long, the length of the valkyrie.

Personally i hope the remote 2s3 turrets is in the hand of the pilot, 4s3 gimbal just to be on the same level of a freelancer.
So the 5th crew will be the engineer, far more useful to keep the ship alive that seating on a remote control seat.

And the cherry on the top would be that the remote gunner can take control of both remote turrets at the same time, giving him 4s3 to toy around, just like the way it work in the reclaimer. The pilot would lost control but it's a good way to make everyone happy.

I doubt that would be very effective. Those two turrets have entirely different fire arcs. Except on beam approaches they wouldn't ever have the same target, and one person can't reasonably track and attack two separate targets.

They can fire at bottom and side if you circle strafe.
I think it's still better to have an engineer station than two remote s3 control...

Love them or hate them, those weird-ass engines will allow for some MEAN strafing runs on ground targets. It will make the damn thing a Cobra Attack helicopter. Be prepared for more tech to come in that will further increase the bennefits of having a Dedicated VTOL mode

**confused by the thread title**

Do you mean Montoya's video on the redeemer, sucks less than his other videos?

If so that is a shocking statement regarding our supreme leader and you should be kicked out of TEST.

I have to admit that, for as many years as I thought about starship designs, I never imagined attaching nutcrackers to my Norelco electric shaver, which must have been the early model for this ship.

But, if it performs as amazingly as advertised, I'll shut up and live with the engines.
