I like the idea, too; but I don't see a bomber wing being able to support a QRF role. We'd be more like the not-so-QRF that becomes the big, drunk, red-bearded, kilt-wearing, log-throwing, muscle behind the actual QRF.
I also whole heartedly agree that having a small escort detachment would be most beneficial to our unit/quadron, and for larger, planned missions, use units like the Yellow Jackets as support. This not only allows us to focus mostly on what we want to do, i.e.: blow crap up; but also gives the other units an additional reason to exist as well. Additionally, if we had a dedicated detachment, those pilots could also become the turret gunners (if so inclined) on the larger bombers for the longer or planed sorties.
I personally have a Vanguard "Hairbanger" that I fully intend to employ in both roles, fighter and bomber; and a brand new Saber upgrade that I picked up for my F7-M that I'm not sure what to do with yet.
