Greetings All!

With the November sale coming up, I'm pondering "Buccaneer VS Hornet F7C" and which I want to keep...

I have flown both numerous times, searched the RSI Spectrum for info, and still CAN'T decide!
(maybe that's why I'm on my 3rd Marriage...ANYWAY)

I'm looking for comments from my TEST brothers and sisters. Your thoughts on the two ships.
Before you have to ask, I'm pretty much a long distance shooter, love energy weapons, and can maneuver both ships pretty well.

Well, I would almost always prefare that ship, that provides the most room for Cookies, as long as this room is accessable while airborn.
One of the biggest ships, that can easily be operated solo is the cutlass or the freelancer. The Freelancer DUR has currently the same value than the Hornet Ghost...
according to this logic, the Hornet is the better Ship.

The Hornet will be slower, but can take a hell of a punch while dishing out some impressive punishment itself. The Bucc is fragile, but zippy as hell. So you would have to decide whether you would like to float like a butterfly and sting like a bee or float like a hippo and sting like an angrier hippo.

Your comment made me think, "What actually am I using it for after 3.0?" It will be my only "fighter" (at least for a while) and I'm sure I'd use it more for escort than interdiction. I suppose the hippo would work a little better since it's survivability when hit. I'm wondering how well I will be able to "float like a butterfly" when I'm coming up against real players vs NPCs. The Buccy can move, but when it DOES get a substantial hit, it's libel to become "non mission capable".

Thanks for the comments so far!

Makes me wonder if another ship wouldn't be a better fit as both of these are more close quarters dog fight specialist. The only ship at the moment that seems to be more of a stand off a bit and fire on incoming or already engaged with others is the Defender. Otherwise both the Buccaneer and Hornet F7C are solid ships when played to their strengths.

As we are still in Alpha the Hornet could potentially be a White Wine Spritzer and the Buccaneer a Grilled Cheese Sandwich come the completed game.

They won't, but judging them as they are now may not pan out very well... I hear the Buck flies a lot like my 350R used to... I miss how fun that thing was.

The Bucc isn't balanced yet, just like the Sabre when it was released. Do you remember the hugely overpowered shields of the Sabre when it was released? But both have their charm. The Buccaneer is a light fighter with heavy weapons. The
A Hornet can have 2x S1, 2x S2 and 2x S3 guns, the same as the Buccaneer (OK, I prefer 3x S3 and 2x S3 on the Hornet, but that is personal preference) The only thing that the Super Hornet has better in weapons is that it can carry 2x S2 and 2x S3 missiles, while the Buccaneer only can carry 2x S3 missiles.
The Hornet has an ejection seat, the Buccaneer hasn't
The Hornet can be used for small cargo runs, the Buccaneer can't
The Hornet is slow and tanky, the Buccaneer is fast and light armoured

DUR DUR DUR DUR
(Dur and Dragonfly are a dreamteam and the cutty dosen't come preequiped with exploration gear, and we don't know if it can handle exploration to the same degree as the dur can...)

PS: The hornet is the better ship for the single reason, that the hornet ghost is ccu able to the MISC Freelancer DUR, yes I'll show myself out of here

DRAKE!! Or of course a lesser brand who use overpriced material and over engineer everything at every step just to take more money from you which in turn makes it seem more valuable when all they did was charge you more money for more material. I mean why not attach blocks of lead to your feet and call them $2000 swimming socks.

I'm not biased or anything.

Let's see... Hornet F7C vs Bucc... humm

Hornet F7C

Can hull small cargo and have a modular box can be change to a lot of stuff as long look radar, dual gun mount, single flashfire mount.... etc
It is very durable and take a beating good and leave you with option to EJECT
It got plenty of missile variations you can put on it and same goes for the variety in guns... etc..
Pretty large Quantum fuel tank and boost/afterburner is more than enough on it...

Buccaneer

Very fast .. fragile to size 2 and up ballistic and energy weapons does not handle getting hit by missile good at all and you are stuck in the seat as in you die with the ship..
It have a great weapon variety little less missile mount but can carry quiet big missiles...
Yeah did I say it is fast...

That kinda sums it up... IMO keep em both or stick with the Hornet F7C and later on get a Bucc if you miss flying it...
That's what I did and don't regret it one bit  ( so now I have both again )

Just my 20cent

:beers:

If you are trying to be serious and thoughtful about this, we haven't seen any ships with Item 2.0 and the new component system and the new ship matrix isn't up so you can't compare that way either. You might want to give yourself some time to get some better info before making a decision.
